This is such a childish thing, to do so right at the end of his Presidency is like a tantrum, right as he's leaving. He knows the people of Utah don't want this, he knows there's no reason to take that much land, and he knows its not the right thing to do. If anything, its going to hurt the special places that need protecting the Antiquities Act was designed to protect. Once this gets overturned, getting places protected will simply become harder to do. This huge tract of land is probably 99% dirt, with 1% actually being something worth protecting with this designation.
The people you feel sorry for are the ranchers and home owners who live in those areas. If this remains, their livelihoods are ruined.

CommieDog and the rest of the government teetsuckers have been actively seeking to destroy the livelihoods of any individuals who strive to live an honest life of fulfillment and tangible productivity outside of the bureaucratic/academic/welfare bubble (yes, I realize the redundancy there) for decades
