"Obamacare is a path to single payer."

Anyone still believe this?

Absolutely - the goal was to destroy the old system (by force) and create a new unpalatable system. People will demand more "change" (because that great number of uninsured will remain - despite best efforts of the progressive left) and they'll say:
"Well, we tried Romney's way. Now we're going to do what we should have done a long time ago - single payer."
Voila - socialized healthcare in the Canadian or U.K. model.

How about "is there anyone left who doesn't believe this?"
The worse the system does, the more the bureaucracy will try to control. That's just the nature of bureaucracies.

The insurance companies are colluding with the federal government more than ever and their profits are more than ever. Why would politicians abandon that quid pro quo relationship? Obamacare is turning out to be a massive scheme to enrich insurance companies and federal politicians even further. They will never get rid of that relationship. It will continue to grow...book it.

Obamacare is nothing more than corporate welfare. Insurance companies have to cover more people but got to jack up the rates on everyone else and provide less coverage. It is a win-win for them.

Unless the ACA is overturned, the nature of government is to increase control not maintain nor loosen it. My guess is that eventually the prices will get so far out of hand (whether it's the insurance price, the premiums, etc) that there will be a strong public outcry that someone in DC must do something. That something will be to take total control.
Bank on it.

Taking control does not mean removing profit from these companies nor putting them out of business.
Seriously, I see healthcare insurance eventually being modeled after utility companies. The federal government will set prices (just like with utilities) and they will be told what profit they can make (after the health insurance lobbyist tell the politicians what that number is).

I hadn't thought of the utilities comparison, I was thinking more along the lines of Amtrak. Interesting premise.

The majority of current Democrats aren't going to blow up the entire health insurance industry. We may see a day sometime in the future where they are willing to do that, but not in the current political climate. I don't see us going to single payer anytime in my lifetime(I'm 40).

Stand back and watch. Especially if Hillary is elected.

I believe that is how it was designed to be, but I also believe the Obama administration freaked it up so bad that single payer (more gubment involvment) will be too tough a sale.

Actually the goal was to make available for purchase to every citizen the same insurance options that members of Congress and the government have. Congress decided it didn't want you to have that, so Obama sent them RomneyCare instead.

Yes, most(all?) other industrialized countries have a form of "socialized" medicine as well as private supplemental insurance.
Ideally, I think we should have single payer for catastrophic coverage, and private insurance for routine, preventative, dental, and vision coverage. Or even vice versa.

There was a reason why the US medical system was by far the best in the world. It was because we are not like them. Those days are going away. We will be like them. Shitty.
