The press shrugged it off when Obama spied on journalists. Because it was "Obama" and he was a Constitutional lawyer so he would never really abuse the his powers.

I bet Obama wishes he actually acted like a lame duck like every other outgoing president does and actually got the frick out of politics for good like every other former president does.
There's a reason for that as the incoming President inherits their skeletons and will not hesitate to use it against them should the former President choose to stay politically active.
