Motivations seemed to be quite different.

I think Snowden in his heart of hearts thought he was doing the right thing. Whether people think he was is up to them.

Manning's were borne out of a mental illness. He was a suicidal, gender-confused, maladjusted person who did what he did because he was fricked up in the head and was desperately seeking attention and was willing to do anything to extricate himself from his situation. The Army failed Manning in the first place by even putting him in that situation, but it doesn't ultimately excuse his lunacy.

I am willing to bet he'll be dead within ten years (and not because of some malevolence); he will destroy himself.

And the people that put the constitution violating programs in place that Snowden revealed? What about the helicopter crew that laughed while they murdered journalists that Manning gave proof of?

Snowden was bitter and a coward. His actions had nothing to do with the "right thing." If they did, he'd have done the "right thing" because he knew exactly what that was.

That doesn't absolve either of their actions.

Question is: can Trump rescind Obama's commutation? I have no (polite) words to address Obama's or Manning's idiocy.
do you do the U.S. Constitution at all?

So should we melt if Obama pardons/commutates Snowden?

If Manning wasn't a psycho dick slicer and just a normal spy, would he have done it?

Do whatever you need to do, but he won't. We all know why Manning received this. Snowden, to our knowledge, is not going to win Obama any outgoing points.

My point is that nothing happened to the people that they exposed.

Neat.

That changes nothing about Manning or Snowden.

Obama just proved that he really doesn't care about national security and counterintelligence and has never been serious about with pardoning manning. Obama just practically neutered democrat talking points on Russia and Wikileaks.

Why should we think that Obama cares about any outgoing points as he's walking out the door having won the world's highest office twice?

I can assure you that was not the case in Iraq.

Any insurgent with two cents in his head could have read the War Logs and figured out a lot of shite. I was six miles away from FOB Hammer when the Manning affair first came to light; people definitely died because of that treacherous piece of shite.

Do you think any of that has relevance to his decision? I sure don't.

Obama has showed that, if nothing else, he cares about how his followers perceive him.

When Trump pardons Snowden in his first week will you be equally upset?
