University of Hawaii professor Jon Osorio lauds the news by saying this "calls attention to the United States' illegal presence in our islands".
I didn't realize Hawaii joined the United States unwillingly.

How do you provide equal protection under the law if there are separate sets of laws?

I was just curious about how aggressive the natives are to outsiders

I've never been, but my mom has spent a few months there and she told me the animosity was almost palpable

I was there for three years. I've heard and read enough stories to believe it goes on, but honestly, I never had an issue. That being said, there's definitely some areas I avoided.

I spent a 3 year your in Hawaii. Nice scenery and incredible weather. Shitty locals though. If you want to go somewhere where the locals think they are the greatest, Hawaii is it. And they act like they know all about everybody without ever leaving the island. I don't know the validity of this article but it wouldn't surprise me if true.

I would be embarrassed to claim that I was "certified" 1/16 of anything.

You must have been hoping for a card. I missed it by that much!

It goes on to list many other races that would have a case for that. They don't mention this, but Jewish people are of tribal nature. There were 12 tribes. So, those living here? Do they get the same protection/status?

Or perhaps annexation by Israel of large parts of Miami Beach and New York?

So maybe this more about immigration reform than anything else. Race=Tribe=La Raza

All Obama voters should be segregated from sane and rational people.

We could put them all in California and wall it off like in Escape From New York.

The natives who work in tourism related jobs (restaurants, hotels, shops and such around the coastal areas are usually pleasant on Kauai). Just don't expect happy faces and warm greetings when you drive out of the main areas. My wife and I have taken 5 two week trips to Kauai over 12 years and I learned rather quick to not drive through areas where natives live, go to school, etc.. Went on a country side cruise just last summer in the hills above Kapa'a and turned into a subdivision where a bunch of natives were outside working in their yards or hanging out with neighbors....kids shooting hoops by the street, etc.. The glares and shouts we received were very hostile. Turned around in a driveway to get the heck out and had a stick thrown from about 20 feet away that hit our rental car in the passenger door. They do not like outsiders.

Same here. Natives don't live on reservations and turned down tribal status in the 70's. Now they want it, and most don't like whites, even though natives still have their ancestral lands. Many villages want self governance. Two troopers were killed in a village a month ago. Many native villages are a nightmare for white (or black) folks.

Called Ben Carson a token and an idiot--which was his misguided way of saying that a lot of Carson's support (in spite of an apparent complete lack of political instincts) was based upon the fact that he was accomplish and black. Out of line, but nowhere near outlandish for this crew. Some figs whined about it, though.

quote: Abstract: The Secretary of the Interior is considering whether to propose an administrative rule that would facilitate the reestablishment of a government-to-government relationship with the Native Hawaiian community, to more effectively implement the special political and trust relationship that Congress has established between that community and the United States. The purpose of this advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) is to solicit public comments on whether and how the Department of the Interior should facilitate the reestablishment of a government-to-government relationship with the Native Hawaiian community.

Native Hawaiians?!

As usual, fox News blows the dog whistle and the race pit bulls come a running!
