Tons more after the jump from a myriad of different academic and polling sources that are sympathetic to the D Party but here's a taste:

quote:

Greenberg does not stop there, shifting his focus from individual Democratic politicians to the Democratic Party itself:

"Past supporters pulled back because of the Democrats’ seeming embrace of multinational trade agreements that have cost American jobs. The Democrats have moved from seeking to manage and champion the nation’s growing immigrant diversity to seeming to champion immigrant rights over American citizens’. Instinctively and not surprisingly, the Democrats embraced the liberal values of America’s dynamic and best-educated metropolitan areas, seeming not to respect the values or economic stress of older voters in small-town and rural America. Finally, the Democrats also missed the economic stress and social problems in the cities themselves and in working-class suburbs."

I posted this (still on the first page) but the best stat is that 9.2 million 2012 Obama supporters voted for Trump in this election, and it goes as high as 20% difference when you go back to 2008.

At the same time mandate the poorly educated and crime riddled inner cities of large metro areas to become more and more dependent on their govt overlords.

The Democrats don’t have a “white working-class problem.” They have a “working-class problem,” which progressives have been reluctant to address honestly or boldly. The fact is that Democrats have lost support with all working-class voters across the electorate, including the Rising American Electorate of minorities, unmarried women, and millennials. This decline contributed mightily to the Democrats’ losses in the states and Congress and to the election of Donald Trump

Harsh but accurate.

If they look in the mirror instead of pushing Russian conspiracy theories, they might be able to right the ship.

The funny thing is... that's their best and brightest. The rest require marching orders and chum to regurgitate

Their media shills acted swiftly to deflect the moment Wikileaks posted the DNC emails during the convention. Within minutes they blamed Russian hackers.

It will swing back to the DNC in either 2020 or 2024. Our federal system is broken and without significant reform, it won't get better. Therefore, whichever party presides of that mess eventually gets the blame for it and support shifts the other way.

That was a good read. Some of it challenges the storyline told by much of the MSM about Trump voters and the demographics of people that switched to the republican candidate last year.

Have an upvote.

Yet the democrats claim racism is why Trump won. They just can't figure it out.

And the murdered Seth Rich. Seriously, who wants to be in a party that kills its own people like that?

NYT is right. The Dems should be capitalizing on the "resistance" that is out there yet they're an even bigger shitshow.

Torpedoing Bernie Sanders campaign will have lasting impacts for years.

yep, the fact that you people are holding this inchoate victory up as a banner of hope changes your game from sad to downright pathetic.

The analysis in the OP is dead on correct. The Dems have to refocus and listen to the people if they have any plan to take back the executive.
