NYT Monday - MOAR "regretful" Trump voters wonder when "winning" will start (PA edition)

LOL at their snarky headline with "winning" in quotes. Did we ever see these pieces about BHO voters when he droned like a madman (after beating Hillary in the 2008 primaries largely on his "no" vote re: Iraq) or when he failed to even address Guantanamo in first term? Certainly not less than 100 days into his presidency, but I mean.... like... ever?
NYT - Trump voters in PA wonder when "winning" will begin
“Political bluster,” Ms. Remington said, before making another run at the quarter slots. She wondered aloud how Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont might have fared in the job.
Such is a view from this swing county of a swing region of a swing state that powered Mr. Trump’s improbable victory, an electoral thermometer for a president slogging toward the end of his first 100 days. Across the country, Republican officials have grown anxious at their standing on even ruby-red turf, sweating out a closer-than-expected victory last week in a House race in a Kansas congressional district that Mr. Trump had carried by 27 points. Another stress test arrives Tuesday, with a special election for a House seat in Georgia.

Yes, but just from right-wing news sites.

The article is ridiculous on its face because the "winning" in this context clearly refers to manufacturing jobs returning to America - Trump has had a decent amount of "winning" in this regard already. A cynic may claim that these jobs and investments in US manufacturing were already in the works before Trump's victory, but this piece doesn't even address it.
It's a hatchet job and a poorly done hatchet job at that.

My top 3 issues in the election were:
1. Supreme Court
2. Supreme Court
3. Supreme Court
So with the Gorsuch deal he is winning big in the first 100 days.

I have no interest in what the (failing) New York Times has to say.

I'd say that a Typical Trump voter's issues (not the johnny come latelies, but the Rust Belt MAGA type that I was a part of) were:
1. Immigration / borders (Incomplete / mixed bag / B- trending towards C-)
2. America First (C-)
3. Jobs (A)
4. SCOTUS (A+)
5. Fighting political correctness (C-)
6. Fighting DC cronyism / "Draining the swamp" (D-)
I added grades for Trump's performance so far on each of these things from the perspective of a "Machinist For Trump" who lives in Scranton, PA.
First off, we're less than 100 days in. Secondly, Trump at a C+ rating at worst, and he obviously tried meaningful immigration change at least in some regard. Also remember that Hillary would almost certainly be at a D- or F from this same voter's perspective.
Finally, I'd argue that "draining the swamp" was a very late addition to Trump's platform and was never really that high on his original supporters' lists. It became a "hit" and a buzz thing b/c of the chants and what-not, but (I think) Trump never talked about draining the swamp until his opponent was Hillary and he needed another talking point to bludgeon her with.

I've seen more winning in the first 100 days than what I witnesssed the last eight years from his predecessor.

Obama was pretty successful at getting his agenda through - especially compared to Bush who literally got ZERO of his 2000 campaign promises through.
I think Trump is running behind Obama at this point although he's had unprecedented overreach from the judicial branch and an opposition MSM that's slowed him down considerably.
If you liked Obama and his objectives you liked his first term pretty well. I think Trump is closer to Obama's success rate than W's or Clinton's at this point. But he's definitely had some setbacks and frustrations.

And yet.....
"Trump told The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday that he was previously convinced China had "tremendous power" over North Korea. But after meeting with Xi last week, Trump said he "realized it's not so easy."
"After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy,” Trump said. “I felt pretty strongly that [China] had a tremendous power over North Korea. But it’s not what you would think.”
And...
"Confirming a reversal on tough China talk, President Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal Wednesday that he will not label the Asian country a currency manipulator in a report due this week.
"They're not currency manipulators," Trump said in the interview.
The president also said putting the label on China now could jeopardize U.S. talks with Beijing on the North Korean threat, according to the Journal. "
So there goes your tariffs on cheap imports from China LOL.....of course it was never going to happen because everyone in the United States who did not vote for Trump understood exactly how little influence anyone had on North Korea and how China has always held what little influence they had as a tool to get what they wanted out of the west.
On another note how did trump remain so unaware of how tough shite in Washington is??? First health care, now trade with china??? How much more is he ignorant of???

Like I've said before, I'm basically 80/20 on Trump's "record" so far:
(1) Trump has unleashed ICE to do their job w/regards to illegal immigration, and has also assigned more legal professionals to handle cases. Apparently, would-be illegal immigrants are taking notice because the traffic of this "group" is way down.
(2) Trump understands business far better than his predecessor, and business investment is way up. Obtw, this started after Trump was ELECTED & BEFORE he was even inaugurated.
(3) TPP is DOA.
(4) Gorsuch.
(5) BLM was welcome at the Obama White House. Law-enforcement professionals are welcome at the Trump White House.
(6) Under Obama, America was always apologizing to a world that isn't as good as America. That would've continued with Clinton. With Trump, America isn't apologizing to anybody. Thank God that stupid little component of PC bullshite has ended.
What have I not liked? Trump relied on Ryan to pass healthcare, and RINO Ryan screwed it up. But the bill didn't pass, so no harm no foul. As a solid conzervative, my biggest concern relates to who Trump is choosing to listen to these days. Unlike some of the self-proclaimed Nostradamus's here, I didn't know the exact role that certain Trump family members would play in his administration. I am keeping an open mind, but I am uncomfortable with both Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump at the moment.
But still, I would rate Trump a solid B on what he's done so far. Maybe a B+. Unlike some here, I'm not sitting around waiting for Trump to do one thing I don't like so that I can come here and start a stupid thread about how I'm now off the Trump Train.

Any source, or person, that can't admit that Trump has had some wins as president, and for that matter some losses, can be dismissed as the joke that they are.
Clearly the stock market is on a huge upturn because of Trump and his proposed tax policcies
Clearly Gorsuch was a huge win
Clearly rolling back all these regulations was a win
Clearly he's won over the military
etc etc
