He'll have a Brian Williams hour long special on the 28th I think......

It'll be nice to see what the political spinners have to say then, bc the whole "treason/spy" angle ain't cutting it any more. The public didn't buy it bc the spinsters didn't know the info he had, and they played their hands too early in a political panic

How the frick is that constitutional on any scale?

It's not, but people really don't give a shite. Our mentality these days is living day to day, not really considering the future other than our own (ie. retirement, kids college, what Kim Kardashian is doing, etc.).

He can be both a traitor and a whistleblower, at least in my eyes. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I thought Hayden's line about the intelligence agencies being able to operate in a smaller box if the public makes an educated decision to put them there was particularly thought-provoking.

I know it's common here for posters to lampoon the "if you don't let us do this, the terrorists will get us. boogeyman! " stuff, but that really is the conversation.

We can have 100% freedom or 100% security or some combination of the two. We can't have both.

In a theoretical sense, sure there is.

In reality, you're right. It's getting the ratios right is what the public debate is about right now.

As it should be. That's probably Snowden's greatest contribution- just initiating the conversation.

Probably the same place where outrage of gas prices went to.

Americans have zero in the way of attention spans. I largely blame the media for this.

And if you listen to the interview he did, that's all he wanted to start. An American conversation about intelligence gathering.

However, like we all know, if the media ain't discussing it and is working to distract us from real issues, we won't talk about it.

A travesty of our reality I'm afraid.

This is the issue that should be crammed down our throats, not the story about the latest bigoted comments from NBA owners

this is truly insane...really think about the amount of attention paid to the 2 issues...

one a private conversation where a guys says some pretty stupid stuff to his bimbo. this story is on EVERY news outlet for weeks, every politician, activist, athlete, and pre-schooler is asked about their opinion on what should be done...action is immediately taken to punish the guy, the entire nation is OUTRAGED !!!

the other in which the government has decided to COMPLETELY ignore the constitution and eavesdrop on ALL Americans. it's mentioned by a few outlets, talked about a little on Sunday morning, nothing happens to anyone responsible for the crimes, vast majority of Americans really don't care

WOW

And yes, NSA, I do support Mr Snowden

Yes, I'm more sympathetic to Snowden having seen this show. However, I still think he could have revealed the problem without leaking what he leaked (hacking China, surveillance of European allies, etc).

There were many, many people in the NSA, White House, Dept. of Justice who had serious reservations about the program. It was/has been portrayed as if it everyone in Washington is/was on board.

Where is the outrage? Why are the people so apathetic to this gross violation of our rights?

Is nobody held accountable anymore in this country?

I had just always assumed the government was spying on us, so when Snowden put it all out there it wasn't that big a deal to me. Maybe it's bc I grew up in the age of gmail and Facebook, where nothing is private that I have a hard time being outraged over stuff like this.
