I'm surprised that the event location is allowing it.

Glad they are being consistent. I bet the rules get changed during Trump's speech.

Not with secret service everywhere.

Doubt they allow it during Trump's appearance. I can't see the Secret Service letting that fly.

I saw an amputee get turned away for having a pen that looked like a .223 round.

Doubt it, probably the safest convention, ever. I would agree, though, it would be suicidal to start some crap there...

I'm putting the over/under on shootings at the convention at ZERO.

I really hope one of those guns doesn't go and kill someone, you know since the gun actually is the perp in all shootings and we need to get them under control.

There's an organization called 'Knife Rights'?

They better. GOP and NRA say "gun free zones" don't solve anything.

Trying something at an NRA convention is a pretty dumb idea, I don't think there is a high risk.

They are a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for the rights of individuals to own and carry knives. Like the NRA but for sharp, pointy things.

Colorado recently made it legal again to carry "switchblades" and other auto-/assisted-opening knives in public, which I was very excited about. I got an auto-/assisted-opener a few years ago and haven't been able to carry it around with me until now.

This is where our firearms laws piss me off. Of course there isn't gun storage available! It would be a double transfer and at least one background would need to be performed.

NRA Member - Here vendor please store my gun while I go listen to the president.

Vendor - OK

An hour or so later

NRA Member - Hi I am back to pick up my gun you are holding for me.

Vendor - Ok please fill out this form 4473 and we will just run a quick background check.

NRA Member - But I am from (any state but Georgia).

Vendor - Oh, sorry I can't transfer your gun back to you.

NRA Member - But I just asked you to store it an hour ago.

Vendor - I know but the ATF says...

Shitty system is shitty.

why would they need to do that? Isn't it Trump's responsibility to carry a gun to protect himself?

You could have self storage facilities like they use to charge cell phones in some places. State rules would govern that more than anything else.

I'm fine with that. I don't think civilians should be disarmed just because politicians/leaders are in their presence. I think it's incumbent on the politician/leader to adequately protect themselves rather than to disarm others, like the Pope and his fancy popemobile.
