I honestly think that calling it straight down the middle must simply not "sell." Is probably seen as too boring. In this reality tv world, we all want drama, outrage etc. It sucks for those consumers that simply don't have much time to sort through info.

It would be interesting to see though if a network came out and strongly marketed itself as calling things down the middle without spin. And then actually caried through with it. Might be a market for 1 network with all the outrage these days about it.

I am very open minded and always open to new ideas. I rarely take a hard stance on things because I am always open to learning more and I admit that a comprehensive understanding will always be incomplete. I just want to discuss ideas so that I can figure them out better.

This board rarely presents a balanced and well reasoned argument. I have only seen a very small minority of posters from either position who make what I would consider informed and thought provoking posts. Positions must be accepted without discussion or you are an idiot. As if the world is so simple. It is regularly expressed that violence needs to be used against any people that don't hold the board's consensus. It is rarely and almost never open to discussing anything. If you present a position that is even mildly questioning then you will be attacked by the overwhelming majority.

This board has a hyper biased and partisan culture, at least right now. But of course you claim that if it seems a little crazy to you then you lack rationality, perspective, and the ability to be objective. Take a look at the irony that is yourself.

That in NO way demonstrates NPR to be balanced.

NPR are the most independent and unbias sources you can possibly get. Too unbias in fact because they attempt to give everyone a platform.

if youre not trolling and really believe this, then you need to re-evaluate what walls you have constructed

The irony of the left is that they bemoan Trumps wall, yet have spent a lifetime constructing a wall that doesn't allow reality in

Yes, walls do work. His post is proof

In fact it often contains diatribes and outrageously one-sided exaggerations and other forms of elitist Left-speak by outraged Lefty individuals who would perhaps not bother to yell out loud, but who would be happy to see their political targets' throats slit and not blink an eye. Very nuanced.

It's not financed by taxpayers so it doesn't have to be balanced.

Clearly your own bias prevents you from seeing the obvious that NPR leans significantly to the left.

Dont care about their political leaning, the taxpayers should not be subsidizing any radio networks.

I enjoy listening to NPR because they do a lot less editorializing than other outlets, but they're the farthest thing from "unbiased". If you took a poll of NPR hosts, correspondents, journalists, and editors, you would find that well over 90% supported Clinton over Trump. They do a good job of not letting that bias turn into angry accusatory rhetoric like the CNNs of the world, but it absolutely impacts the way they choose stories and the way they choose guests. When they want a Republican Congressman to comment on something, it's always a McCain or Graham type. When Ford recently canceled its Mexico plant to move jobs to the US, they didn't do a story on manufacturing jobs coming back to the US; they did a story on how the decision hurt Mexicans. That's the type of bias that NPR has. It's not as overt as CNN's, but it's definitely there.

So they have guests who are threatening to murder their political opponents. I have never heard that. But I guess you have.

I'm just going to follow YStar around to every thread and ask him to support his position that Bannon is a White Supremacist without Googling or linking to shite.

Still waiting YStar. Forever.

Did they have people on that were happy with Trump and did they allow them to speak for an extended period of time? People that support the travel ban? Do they ever have pro-2A people on to talk for a period of time? How about people who support the free market?

THAT is the fricking problem with NPR.

No, they don't. I listened to NPR after the Harvard soccer team was banned from school for "grading" female soccer players. They had a "professor of masculinity" who spent about eight minutes explaining that men are scared of women, and that grading women was a clear example of women becoming powerful in a modern society.

Not, "this is stupid," or, "yeah, this is something that happens..." -- no, NPR claimed that men 'grading' women is some sort of crime and the Harvard soccer players were justifiably kicked out of school for their behavior.

*ETA - I forgot to mention that the professor of masculinity sounded like a flaming homosexual, which means straight male behavior is being explained by a gay man.

That is not what I said. Please read with comprehension. I said some would be happy to see certain throats slit and not blink an eye. I did not say they were threatening to do that, although I heard no outcry against the calls for political assassinations and blown up White Houses on NPR.

NPR and the "pretorian guard" mainstream media are determined to regain control.

Look for the current wave of mayhem and disorder in Berkeley and New York, and elsewhere, to be blamed on Trump's policies.
