Apparently 12 months ago, a contractor working for the DOJ was hacked and my DOJ data stolen. They have been investigating for the last 12 months and concluded that they should warn the 360,000 folks whose data was stolen. Also they will provide a 12 month subscription to a data security company.
they clearly say " rest assured you are not the subject of the civil investigation or related litigation matter ".

We get enough scam mails/emails etc , that I had to check out the reality of the claim. Its real.

Hadn't had a traffic ticket in 30 years, never sued/been sued, 800 plus credit rating, Why would DOJ be giving my stuff to a contractor in the first place. A 12 month delay in notification is terrible. And a free 12 month subscription is useless.

I think the concept of cyber security is a waste of time with the government dropping stuff all over the place.

Well now I’m worried. I always thought that permanent record stuff I was told in High School was BS.

Why would the DOJ HAVE your stuff to begin with. And what stuff are we talking about.

If I were you, I’d want to get the answer to those questions.

You participate on the PoliBoard of Tiger Droppings. You have an online presence and you are known. That's why.

Only background check was in 1991 for a demolition site explosive permit.

About the only thing not disclosed was checking acc numbers and computer passwords.

I've had a background check done.

Why would the DOJ have access to that?

The FBI is used to provide the criminal background information.

It's not your stuff, it's their stuff, to be sold/used as they see fit. they just like for you to still think it's your stuff.

. .Terrible but seems to be the norm now.
I've had notices like that from URHC, a credit reporting agency and maybe another outfit related to healthcare.. all of them were about breaches the year before,

I seem to remember years ago when big companies were getting hacked a lot and people raised hell about the timeliness of notification. Rules were made to help the poor consumers.. and notification times went from months to a year.

You never hear who breached the system or what they got or for sure if your info was among the stuff pilfered.
But here's a free sub to another contractor that you can give access to your information.

I received a similar letter years ago when the CCP hacked the OPM.

The whole thing is probably a scam and the grab is when all of those who are notified use that 12 month subscription. They will be paid by the government and kick back some to the politicians. Or else the politicians co-own that cyber company.
