Ex Parte hearings are not due process on this issue. See the case I cited above. It covers WHEN EVIDENCE MAY BE SEIZED.

You can call yourself a militia and that's the end of the story right there.

if you want to have someone thrown in the looney bin, you know what you have to do? Go before a judge.

If someone is mentally ill and a clear and present danger to those around them, we have a responsibility as a society to prevent the loss of life. A judicial hearing is, by definition, due process against that mechanism.

Okay. Have the hearing

. Leave their property alone. If they are in the looney bin they are no danger. Right? If the person is looney they might just get in a car and drive on the sidewalk while their guns are locked up. Thanks for proving my point.

When my Mom would tell my Dad "You're driving me crazy!", my Dad would always come back with "That's not a drive, that's a short putt".

that would be a more extreme deprivation of their rights.

So you're fine with the person in question being deprived of their freedom entirely, but not okay with only one small part of that freedom being temporarily suspended?

I will say though that the mental health system in this country is a joke.

A mental health hearing is not ex parte so at least they are represented and get to face their accusers.
