Yes because protest and rebellion should have rules

This is a stupid comment. NFL ain't drawing new fans. The liberal snowflakes that ESPN and the NFL try to get to watch their product ain't gonna watch it. Catering to these safe space folks is bad business. You lose and alienate your core viewers. Add in the parents not letting their children play anymore because of concussions but will let them play soccer and you actually have a business that will die. Plus have you seen soccer contracts?

This is dumb to compare franchise worth cuz a soccer team is the most valuable franchise

My response was to the poster who said MLB teams make way more money which is inaccurate.

Why would the top athletes play a sport when there's no chance in going pro (at least not in a major league) in it?

Basketball will take the lion's share of elite football athletes over the next 25 years. NBA will be king.

Employment has rules. Make some very public political protests at your job while on the company’s time and check back with us

Yeah if they'd nipped this in the bud, as several signs pointed to, they would have no issue.

They let it fester because they either thought no one would care (after the blackballed Kap) or they didn't see the risk of it spreading.

They're fricked now. Well and truly fricked. This is 100% on Gooddell and his lack of executive risk management.

Problem is NBA has far fewer players though (and height being a factor). Plenty of middle class families already prefer their sons play soccer instead of football.

I agree that pro football has declined recently, for multiple factors.

1. The free agency crap that started a long time ago removed the player loyalty factor.
2. Teams started moving, which removed the team loyalty factor. The Chargers move in the offseason was a big refresher for a lot of people.
3. The targeting/concussion protocol/CTE stuff is pussifying the game. I understand the safety concerns, but people aren’t tuning in to watch flag football.
4. Cheap tickets to regular season games aren’t cheap anymore.
5. The political BS poured on top of everything else.

The NFL is still popular, but not nearly universally popular like it once was.

Yeah but there isn't a rule for these NFL players. I'm not sure why you didn't want to add less freedom to a situation. Are you just one of those people that when you can't do something you don't want anybody else to be able to do it either?

Yeah no doubt . Me too . I’ve been spending every Sunday with my peeps. When I miss the NFL on a Sunday or Monday I’ll just watch the NHL though

I’m playing more golf. If it rains, I’m doing stuff around the house or binge watching some series that I’ve somehow missed seeing over the years. Some of them are REALLY good.

I’ve found out three things. The NFL took up way too much of my time. My short game has vastly improved. And my wife seems to like me better. (Maybe slightly better).

I don’t miss the NFL at all.

Exactly. The owners and the NFL should have threatened them with huge fines and if they failed to comply, sit them out a game or two. And if they still refused to comply, they get cut and are suspended.

There a severalhundred guys out there who would love to take their spot.

Thats on the owners and Goodell. And they’re reaping the consequences from fans tuning out and not buying their products. Any decent businessman knows its not a good idea to allow employees to engage in conduct in the workplace that will alienate a large segment of your customer base.

No. I’m self employed so I can protest at work if I want to. I just know its not wise because a large chunk of my customers would disagree with it
