New BP scientist finds 200M barrels of oil in Gulf

Just out of grad school, he develops a new algorithm and convinces his bosses to let him borrow the company supercomputer for two weeks.
What he found would have taken traditional methods at least a year to find (if they would have found it at all):

Truck nuts come from oil jobs. More oil = more jobs.

Did he also convince India to dramatically improve the living conditions of a huge majority of its citizens? Housing/transportation? Power/running water?

Pretty awesome. How they interpret seismic data has come such a long way along with new techniques and in taking the seismic shots (ocean bottom nodes) is really helping geologist develop accurate pictures of the subsurface.

BP has one major incident and the company is a failure? Do you fly, every major airline has experienced a fatal crash, do you think the airlines are good at flying people?

BP has had a few...
To the OP, finding it is great but what's the price to produce? We've had some really major finds lately so it's great but unless it's produced at $30 it's going to stay there for a while.
