Happy to respond. Trump's platform is almost identical to Billy Jeff's in the mid-90s. He's OK with homosexual marriage, spends like a drunk on shore leave, and doesn't go around the planet looking for wars.

He's not at all what I'd like for him to be, but he's not a radical. That's just how far the left has shifted.

International Paper closing over 15 years ago helped a lot, plus Johns Manville on the east side of town before that.

The fact is that Mississippi is a hidden secret and trying hard to attract industry. With a partner looked at building a plant there over the last 12 months. Far better and easier to operate there than any other state in the South. Yes, that includes Texas.

A chemical manufacturer CEO told me about the secret of Mississippi about this time last year. He wishes that they would move their several plants in the Memphis area across the state line.

Honestly, much of Tennessee would love to relocate Memphis over state lines.

Dan is kind of goofy but seen as an overall good guy. Alot of blacks know him and like him. He was the Insurance agent for Hinds County and that board was almost all black. Yet they liked him. Natchez is pretty screwed up town. Dan probably outworked his opponents.

Much of North Mississippi already did to get away from Memphis.

From what I have heard of the locals, the economy has hollowed out considerably. Not many jobs outside of a few select fields.

Natchez gets what it deserves. They’ve let old money chase away every bit of industry (IP, Armstrong, Fidelity, etc...) and stymie any opportunity Natchez had for new industry and growth (Toyota plant, WalMart distr center, etc...). They thought they were gonna make enough money off tourism that they could essentially kill the middle class and rule over their domain in their antebellum castles. Anybody with a brain could’ve seen this collapse coming.

Being an anti-globalism Patriot goes pretty damn far.

This is an interesting trend. Also happened in Monroe.

And yet he has done things FAR RIGHT of every Republican President that I know.
1. Wall
2. Deregulation
3. Tax cuts
4. Massive amount of Judicial appointments
etc., etc.

But I guess "Right" or "Left" is in the agenda of the eye of the beholder.

Not to derail, but Trump is as moderate as it gets
Trump's positions DO "average out" somewhere in the Center-Right range, but they are scattered across all four quadrants of the political landscape.

He is a populist with no ideological anchor whatsoever.

Trump is more liberal than Hillary Clinton. He's NOT a conservative.

Democrats just turned into far left facists.

Natchez and Vicksburg should be two of the top small cities in Mississippi but sadly they've both gone to hell. River cities with great history.

t's a physically attractive little town. The little tourism it gets keeps the downtown area reasonably vibrant throughout the year. It seems like the type of place that should be well positioned to attract certain niche type industries.

Improve medical services and other hings that will attract retirees from the North. People that will bring their own money to spend, and are looking for warmer weather, lower taxes, and overall lower cost of living.
