But Columbus day also feels rather meaningless, and I live in a city named after him. I had no idea it was on Monday, until my wife told me our son's day care is closed and uses it as a PD day.

So I think we should encourage those goofballs to focus on meaningless things, so they're not focusing on meaningful things.

I just want to step on long enough to observe that if asked, i suspect that most who voted for this believe that what America did to indigenous people was a high crime and basically genocide. That because of it, the us isn't fully legitimate

Which makes this vote sort of like a bunch of rapists agreeing to observe a day honoring rape victims.
