Do you think that the book was assigned from a leftist point of view and your son / others are seeing it the way that most on this board see it?
I'm frankly fascinated that so many seem to think that Le Pen / Trump are the "fascists" when Antifa and the campus left is clearly the fascist element.

The biggest parallel to 1984 in recent time is definitely the implementation of the Patriot Act.
