My problem with this line of thinking about women in combat; "Don't lower the standards"

This was posted in a thread today.
She should not have had the opportunity to do it.
The science and data just does not support the idea of women in combat being a sustainable and long term investment.
They're too expensive with all the added costs for medical care, compliance of sorts, they're ineffective labor that could be easily done by men for cheaper and more effectively, they wreck havoc on the cohesiveness, readiness and professional atmosphere being the the only female in the unit thus causing sexual tensions to rise.
Even if one female managed to make it through without the standards being lowered. It just means that she's that one in a million diamond in the rubble and such a rarity of a phenomenon.
And that's precisely my point about women in combat, especially spec ops units like the SEALs. Women that are actually capable of being as skilled, efficient, tough, and ready enough as men in combat is so few and far between, they might not as well exist and it's just not worth it to look for them.
And adding onto the fact that giving women a spot in training just takes away spots from more capable men that would have a much high chance of passing the training and being a much more effective use of our tax dollars.
Women in combat is a bad fricking idea and they shouldn't be allowed to try for it.

Women in combat puts men in danger as they will treat women differently. Men do stupid things for women to protect them. It's simply unsafe.

the people pushing these measures, it`s worked in all sectors of our society. Women have been indoctrinated through the goofball men in sitcoms and the super heroine women that can take on any man that they are equal or superior to men. Over 50% of adults aren't married now, the goal of marriage has already been diminished..women on the front lines is just another step whether it gets people killed is of no significance.

Where's the evidence that women are worse?
Israel has half of its military that are women and they have one of the most bad arse troops in the world... Even if if their mission is misguided.

Women arent in direct combat roles and are usef on patrol only on the borders where peace treaties are in place, i do believe they did try to intergrate before and it went about as well as you would expect.

my understanding is that the idf used women on the front lines back against their war with egypt and once women were executed and it was displayed throughout the media they stopped putting women in combatant roles
war also isnt as linear as it used to be so women can die by not being in combatant roles. its way too much of a liability

Men have much higher test levels than women.
Being a man is literally a performance enhancing drug.
Sure there can be some overlap when an extremely athletic woman is compared with a below average male. But if you find yourself in this scenario it doesn't mean you found the right woman, it means you found the wrong man.
There is no shortage of candidates for top tier groups.

No doubt. The US has plenty of women in the military too. Just not in top tier front line combat roles

Folks, the GOP and the Dems BOTH support women in combat, women in the infantry, women in special ops and transgendered people in the active duty military.
I know that most of us on here are against all of the above, but, there is no way that we are going to get our way on these issues. No way.

The IDF isn't the worlds most professional army, just for the record. The lack of NCOs the reliance on conscripts... their model has issues.
They don't use women in combat though. And they have no intention to. They have ceremonial female unit, but that's it.

Whoever is allowing "transgender" men to compete in women's athletics may actually cause some much needed discussion. A male freshman in highschool somewhere that wasn't that fast won the women's 100m state title recently and ruined a girls hard work. She was a returning state champ and was literally the fastest female in the state again.
Maybe a seperation will be called for again soon when it's men thwarting women's hard work and not just an opportunity for the opposite.

Legally speaking, were not allies. We don't have any treaty commitments to Israel.
