We can debate whether Tesla needs $5 billion but Musk has already built other companies from the ground up without govt money.

He's clearly brilliant. And what he is doing now is on a different level than building golf courses and hotels.

$22/hour sounds pretty good to me. You think trump starts his hotel staff at that rate?

Dude, Musk built Zip2 with $2000 of his dad's money.
And Zip2's board of directors fired him as CEO of the company. Don't forget that little bit of information....

Then Musk invested that into another company that would become PayPal
And he was kicked off the management team of PayPal while he was on his honeymoon.

And don't forget Musk developed the world's first external combustion engine with Tesla.

For every business failing you could point out in Musk, two could be pointed out for Trump.

Do you want us to start posting links to Trumps business failings?

Be my guest. I'm under no delusion that he's perfect. My point was that Musk isn't this huge humanitarian and Trump hasn't done anything for people. Employing thousands of people which puts money in their pocket to eat with is something.

If that's the best you can come up with to defend Musk's business failures then you got nothing....

Do you think a doorman and a manufacturing worker deserve the same rate of pay?

Musk wanted to toss unix and go to windows. The board disagreed. Smart people disagree sometimes. He didn't run the company into the ground. There's a difference between business failure and going in a different direction.

Weird how you think being fired is the relevant datum here and not, say, the % change in valuation before and after his leadership.

Nah dude that means he sucks. It's not like there are any other famous examples of brilliant tech CEOs getting pushed out by their board of directors for stupid reasons.

I'm not even saying that it was stupid reasons. I'm just saying that companies often switch leadership for different reasons. It doesn't mean that the outgoing person is a failure. That's silly.
