We each have a will, one of the few things we control in this life, and words are a means of expressing that will. The argument might be that the girl wasn't close in proximity to the suicidal boyfriend. But neither was Hitler right by the gas chambers.

Agree or disagree with the guilty verdict?

Agree, the dude was obviously suicidal which means he was menatlly unstable. She was a trusted and close person to him and she did nothing to try and get him help

She did worse than doing nothing.

Those who are clinically depressed and contemplating suicide are not in their normal state of mind. Telling such a person to get on with it while they are actively expressing a suicidal plan is at best grossly negligent and at worst criminal. Especially in this case where it sounds like the kid wasn't going to go through with it until pushed over the edge by the girl who was convicted.

Disagree...the girl is unsympathetic and clearly unstable, however, the boy is ultimately, solely responsible for his actions.

And yet, there are multiple scenarios in which the law allows for punishment of those who influence the decisions of others to commit crime.

Yep

Verdict is bull shite.

I don't even know what the hell the crime was. What's she guilty of?

She knew her boyfriend was suicidal and by law, she had a moral duty to get him help and let his family know that he was suicidal so they could help and save their son.

Instead, short of actually being there and physically helping him, she encouraged him, prodded him, and demanded he kill himself.

That kind of evil mind has no business being in the public square and needs to be removed society and placed in its proper place at state prison.

Involuntary manslaughter

What did it was the text she sent to him after he said he wasn't gonna go through with it and was getting out of the car that said to get back in and kill himself.

If she just hasn't done anything she wouldn't have been convicted of anything.

Involuntary manslaughter.

And she waived her right to a jury trial.

She's facing 20 years in prison.

Just to clear this up some, she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, not murder.

Her lawyer should be disbarred if he told her to waive her right to jury trial in this instance. That's terrible lawyering.

What's the difference? Does manslaughter imply by accident?

I will never ever be comfortable with the fact that such honest, sincere and evil demands like this could have no legal liability whatsoever, especially when its successful. It had to be punished and held accountable.

An involuntary manslaughter charge can be brought when someone causes the death of another person when engaging in reckless or wanton conduct that creates a high degree of likelihood of substantial harm. Prosecutors said at trial that her text messages supported their claim that Carter caused Roy's death by "wantonly and recklessly" helping him poison himself.
