President Trump signed an executive order Friday that could lead to the expansion of drilling in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, saying it will reverse his predecessor's Arctic leasing ban and create "great jobs and great wealth" for the country.

quote:

Trump said the executive order, titled "Implementing an America-First Offshore Energy Strategy," will direct a "review of the locations available for off-shore oil and gas exploration" and related regulations.

"Today we're unleashing American energy and clearing the way for thousands and thousands of high-paying American energy jobs," Trump said in his announcement.

"Our country is blessed with incredible natural resources, including abundant offshore oil and natural gas reserves," he said. "But the federal government has kept 94 percent of these offshore areas closed for exploration and production."

"This deprives our country of potentially thousands and thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in wealth," Trump said.

Trump, with the order, is directing his interior secretary to review an Obama-era plan that dictates which locations are open to offshore drilling, with the goal of the new administration to expand operations.

Once again.

Another EO that orders a review and actually does nothing.

I have a question for you. I can understand why you are tough on him now, and I can understand why you did NOT vote for her, but there had to have been a reason, any reason, for you to vote FOR him, rather than against her. Was there a policy he mentioned during the race that intrigued you? There had to have been something positive you felt, rather than solely y100% negative feelings about her driving your vote decision. What was it?

I've answered this before for you I'm pretty sure.

I'm ok with a big doof being President for 4 years if it means Gorsuch is on the Court for 30.

And I thought Trump would be better. Honestly, I thought he would tone down the crazy once he became President.

Well ordering a review with the "goal of expanding" offshore drilling isn't nothing, but it's still not the same as "expanding offshore drilling." So he was more accurate than OP.

But my position would be to let you guys celebrate anything you want. We all need something to hang onto. I actually had a friend suggest that Trump just declare the wall built and say that it's largely invisible due to cutting edge technology. I think most of his supporters would be happy and then he could move past an issue that's standing in the way of his other priorities in Congress.

Trump could announce he's giving gold bullion to everyone and the left would find a reason to bitch about it.

They are that delusional and just doing what they're told.

Hey I didn't say you were celebrating. I didn't say you weren't. I'm just saying you're free to if you want. Free to do you. Be yourself. Live your truth.

Na mean?

In a post, to me, you said you were all good with "you guys" celebrating.

Am I the crazy one? Could be I guess. They always say the crazy one is the last to know.

America first. And this is another example of that and moving toward energy independence from those morons in the east. We have it here! Why not use it and stop paying and financing countries who support terror?

Workers hired, economy boosted, dependence lowered, etc etc etc.

We haven't had a production or capacity issue... so what exactly does this accomplish?

It's pandering really

His what? His EO?

Did you read it? If you did and you still don't know then I don't know what to tell you.

If you didn't read it, start there.

I'm talking about results. If demand were an issue our energy producers could easily ramp up production with their current infrastructure.

So why aren't they?

You asked what it would accomplish. The EO tells you what it's all about.

At this point, it's about reviewing what the Obama admin did regarding drilling sites, the regs Obama imposed and what sites Obama put off limits.

Those things would need reviewed periodically anyway.

The OP may have over done the thread title for sure. It does work getting the liberals and "contrarians" fired up though. You guys can't help yourselves.

This seems more of an argument against such a self imposed moratorium than against Trump's lifting it.

It isn't going to matter. The Left will continue to rule by judge shopping.

Someone will file suit out west and the judge will declare the EO unconstitutional. Same thing is coming with the wall.

Tax cuts too, they will end Trump's Presidency this way.
