1302, 1802, or 1803

Those are cool. I'd probably steer away from 1803 because our amphibious tracks are like 40 years old and their replacement ws cancelled so we could find the F35. How much sense does that fricking make? Our amphibious service cancelled a new amphibious vehicle so they could buy the same fighter jet that the other two massive air forces in the US military are buying.

Seriously, the AAV-7 is a piece of shite.

I know that's what you're supposed to say, but any field investigation with previous associates would make me guilty of perjury if the agents had any kind of competence.

BTW, if I were coming in now, I'd try to be an 02 or 06.

06 looks pretty decent. Not really sure I want to be a spook, though.

I've been talking to a Marine OSO but I'm scared shitless of having to go through a SSBI if it came to that.

I wouldn't worry too much except for the following:
- Any felony record (conviction, not just arrest or charge)
- DUI
- Bad credit history or some sort of shady finances

If you have drinking tickets or bar fights or smoked a little weed or something, you're generally OK as long you're up front about it.

Can you get an 02 slot? All the ones I knew were converted from 03 at 1st lt. or captain.

Gotta stay clean once you get commissioned. They will hand you a bottle in a minute. Had the MP's search my car once at Quantico when I was a butter bar.

How about our military sheds its culture of waste and then they could afford new toys

I'm not particularly worried about money. I just want to do something besides being in goddamn law school. I would just go back to farming after EAS if I didn't want to recontract.

I haven't used anything other than alcohol in the past few months. I honestly feel a lot better than I have in a while.

You wouldn't have to be, but that's what I'd recommend.

Do they only interview people that you list on the SF86? If so, it might not be as problematic as I fear.

Just announced. They are going to field this thing that looks like an LAV. See the little water jets on the back?

They had a long time a requirement that the AAV-7 follow on go as fast on water as on land; that hasn't worked. The AAV-7 would only do about 8kts.

Depends on the needs, but we had our share of boot officers. Some were prior enlisted. Some were infantry guys. Depends.

My memory is shite, but I think they interview the people you list and ask about others that knew you. If something comes up, they'll follow up. No clue on how often they do that.

GT23 probably remembers better than I do, though.

We had a reception at TBS where the lieutenants monitor came. He said the old thing, "How can you tell I am lying? My lips move."

No one laughed.

How much money goes into military spending again?

I swear the biggest waste of money is due to how inept the Pentagon is with the money it's given. Just streamlining the military would save this country more money than most of the committees on the chopping block combined.

Yeah, my monitor was a lying dirtbag. Almost ended up in Twentynine Palms as CAX cadre because of him.

I guess I'm probably over-romanticizing the appeal of a combat position. I just don't want to be bored, I guess.

I used to work with a guy who was a technical writer, also a pilot. He told me this story.

Back when they had the first WestPac deployment of the F-22 four of them left Pearl Harbor for Guam or whatever gets them ultimately to Japan. This was maybe 2005 or '06.

Any way the four aircraft hit the International Dateline and their GPS systems shut down. They had to declare an emergency and go back to PH. They couldn't find the tankers.

The point is, they probably had 400 retired colonels working on the damn thing, and no one thought about the IDL. Geez.

They downloaded a patch at PH and were able to continue, but gee whiz.

You can always move in that direction. Our platoon commander was an 02. HET dudes get 02s. Less so as an 06, but there's always A&S.

I about shite when I got orders to ITS (Instead of Fort Knox), but I wouldn't want to be a POG.

And you wouldn't want to miss this.
