Lansing — Michigan’s Republican-led House on Wednesday night approved a strict voter identification proposal over strenuous objections from Democrats who argued the plan could disenfranchise properly registered voters.

Democrats argued the voter identification proposal would have a disproportionate effect on lower-income and minority voters, creating new barriers to participation for those who may struggle to obtain identification for various reasons.
“This bill will suppress the votes of those for whom voting is already a struggle,” said Rep. Fred Durhal III, D-Detroit.

This is the lamest excuse out there. If that struggler gets out of the house for at least one time a year for whatever reason, then they have no merit in claiming voter ID is a struggle for them.

It's amazing how little they think of the voting block. The only thing you don't need an ID for is to sit at home and never leave.

Right. Voting is literally less complicated than using the self checkout at Walmart

Other than being here illegally, what other "various reasons" could someone struggle to obtain an ID?

How can poor and minorities accomplish everyday life but not be able to get proper ID?

That's why poors need more government, so they know how to put one leg in front of the other to walk. According to most democrats, they are too stupid to do anything but vote for democrats.

I want to hear a well thought out rational argument against voter ID laws.

I don't believe its possible.

This should be one of trumps top priorities.

That's the whole mindset of liberal dems, that "those" people are not capable of going through life without exceptions being made for them because they are not capable. Yet Republicans are the racists.

Fun fact: you need photo ID to vote in Mexico and Canada.

I'm sure the Democrats have no ulterior motives in trying to employ similar techniques in America.

I think you know what the real reasons are that Dems don't want stricter voter ID registration laws.

One, obviously they want the illegal alien votes.

Secondly, they truly believe that minorities (namely African Americans and Latinos) won't turn out if they have to go through the extra effort of a more rigorous registration process. I don't know if Dems truly believe that those minorities are just stupid and won't be able to figure it out, or if they believe they are that lazy that they won't put for the effort. But either way, it is an insult to those minorities.

I believe a story I once read said that 400 million Indians live on less than like $3 day, but all have voter ID. Appoint those pro-voter ID judges, trump

And I love how trump got shite by relating Blacks to inner cities, but Dems insinuate that all minorities can't afford ID.

Do you hear that folks? That's what soft racism from the left sounds like. Minorities are to stupid to get an ID like every other person, so we must step in and makes laws to help them.

Not necessarily. Maybe Fred thinks they are just too lazy to get one. But you'll have to ask ole Fred which it is. Either way, it's an insult to minorities that Fred thinks they can't handle getting a voter ID.
