Kansas is having a special election today to fill Mike Pompeo's House seat. The Democrats have convinced themselves they are going to win. Should be hilarious tonight

DEMs are dumping tons on money into that race. Running against Gov Brownback. Unless the DEM wins outright he won't have a chance in the runoff - but there are like 18 candidates, or so I heard this am on MJ.

Are you sure you're not thinking about the Georgia 6th? I didn't think Kansas was a jungle election but I could be wrong.

The Democrats think they are going to win fricking Kansas? Have these people actually been to Kansas?

Did't Trump win that district by 28 points? Are the Dems just trying to get it close or do they really think they can win?

Yes and Yes

What do they define as "close"?
If they lose by 27 points (instead of the 28 that Trump won by), will the MSM claim that the Dems are "making inroads"?

I don't think the Left fully realizes how much hostility the average flyover state American harbors towards progressivism.

The true believers have gotten themselves worked up into a lather thinking everyone in the country hates Trump and Republicans as much as they do and every election between now and 2020 is a Dem lock. They are setting themselves up for disappointment bigly. It's going to be great.

I honestly think that the race is much closer than a lot of Republicans want to believe. Cruz was in town stumping for Estes yesterday. Do you think he would have come up here if this were a blowout? I am a Registered Republican and voted for Estes, but I cannot deny the momentum that Thompson seems to have at the moment.
Estes has not run a very solid campaign and it makes it worse that he seems to be attached to Sam Brownback.

Democrats have convinced themselves that people cannot live a full life unless they are coddled and nurtured their entire life by a NE liberal.

um..... this race wasn't on anyone's radar until the RCCC started panicing and dumping money into it.
GA 6th and the MT AL are elections that should be close (the MT race looks to have the Dem with a decent lead since the R, bought the nomination after already being labeled as a carpet bagger out to privatize and otherwise restrict access to public lands in his failed attempt to win the Governor's Mansion).

I think so. the kansas race hasn't seen 1mil for either side. But polls do show the race as a dead heat, but they are all super small sample size. Thompson (D) apparently has run a good campaign against Brownback. Good strategy for anyone with a brain. Apparently Estes (R) has attempted to just coast and hasn't distanced himself from Brownback.
Honestly, I think this seat is a better shot for the Dems than Georgia. Now, we will see if the last minute million for the R makes a big difference
It is funny because it is the capitol for the Kochs.

I think Thompson is running a John Bel Edwards style campaign. Has an ad where he's shooting an AR and stuff like that. Could be a winning strategy for the Democrats in the heartland. We'll see.

Well its going to be closer than pompeo's election last fall, pompeo won by 30 pts.
while all elections are about turnout, special elections are odd in that turnout is often 1/3 to 1/4 of regular turntout. enthusiasm wins. Its probably a really bad sign for trump if the democrat is within 5-10pts in Kansas.

Pompeo's fmr seat favors R's by 15 pts. But special elex are always "special" w/low turnout. Sometimes outcomes mean a lot. Sometimes not

Dems will attempt to portray even a close loss as a "win" in KS special elex. Trump carried district by 27 pts. Romney by 26 pts.

Dems looking to see if they can claim KS seat in special elex & make that a bellwether of dissatisfaction w/GOp & Trump

Making it close would be a win for the Dems. If it is around 10 points or less win for the GOP is a bad sign.
With Trump and Cruz campaigning in a extremely red district is a bad sign. Dems have a history of not having good turnout in midterms and special elections.
