How it was missed that the song was laden with massive amounts of satire is sad to think that people treated it in a negative manner even with the lyrics in their hands to read.

Mel Brooks is the GOAT and Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest movies ever made.

That being said, Im not sure I buy his idea that you couldnt make that movie today. Django Unchained dropped a tons of N-bombs and was praised.

I've always maintained that Blazing Saddles should be watched by every American.

If you can't see the contextual difference between Django unchained and Blazing Saddles, I don't know what to tell you. The two aren't comparable in terms of the content and meaning of how they use the word.

Mel Brooks mocked racism and made it look utterly stupid in that movie. He could do it because he was a liberal Jew and people knew that he was not trying to oppress others.

He is brilliant and the movie was brilliant. He got us to laugh at racism and see it as clownish behavior.

We cannot do that anymore because we are too stupid as a society to understand what is actually being said. Look at the latest Colbert fiasco when he mocked racism by using racist terms for Asians. People were wanting him fired. He was actually making Asian racism look foolish, but they could not grasp it.

Lots of ignorance these days. It means that we have devolved intellectually and someone like Mel Brooks is not beyond us as a society.

Both use the term in a racially charged way. Blazing Saddles just does it in a satirical manner.

Anyone offended by its use in movies is just looking to be offended and will be regardless of how its used. Normally functioning adults wont care either way.

I completely agree with Mel Brooks.

The biggest issue I have with my 'side' - liberals, in general - is this P.C. word police nonsense.

How great to be an American right now: you're free to say whatever you want, but you'll be pilloried for it by dumb-arse reactionaries who are nowhere nearly as clever as they think they are.

Our culture is a mess right now; I'm confident it'll get straightened out, however.

The same can be said for those who want to ban "Tom Sawyer" or "Huckleberry Finn" from public schools because of N!gger Jim and Injun Joe.

Why are those silly liberals always concerned with what film celebrities are saying?

I don't blame Tuba Boy for championing political correctness. It allows him to be the biggest idiot on this forum and still not get banned.

Exactly, this Tuba idiot can't even grasp the irony of the non-point he is trying to make.
