Is there any more worthless of a medal than the "Presidential Medal of Freedom"? The POTUS gets to arbitrarily pick people based on no set of criteria to pat on the back. How is this nothing more than political theater and basically a congratulatory hand job for toeing the company line?

I count four more-or-less good baws who did their best.
I mean they aren't Putin, Snowden, or Assange, but they probably did more for this country than the average bear.

I think there's a committee that makes recommendations to the President. In theory, it's not a bad honor, except toward the end Obama just started awarding it to all Hollywood buddies, which kind of defaced it. And he gave one to Vin Scully, which seems bizarre.
