The reason I brought up HIPAA, as I already stated, is that with this influx of media and reporters, I'm sure these doctors were told by their superiors to watch what they say. Pretty standard precaution. Happens all the time when a famous person checks in to a hospital.
This article probably spun that to mean that they would be arrested if they said anything at all. Seriously, how many poster who participated in this thread believe a doctor wlll get arrested for saying "there are a lot of sick people here?"

They have diseases in Mexico that we have basically eradicated from the US. They haven't been here long enough to give exact numbers.

ETA - interesting fact - to me anyway. The Title I was about the insurance portability part of it but all of the privacy stuff came about by way of some magazine guy tried to extort money out of Arthur Ashe because he (the magazine guy) found out he had AIDS. Rather than paying he (Arthur) came forward with it.

Texas is going to have to handle this themselves if they want something done.
