How in the frick is this legal?

Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) is slated to pay her daughter another $108,000 for running a lucrative campaign operation that pulls in hundreds of thousands of dollars each election cycle, FEC filings show.
quote:
Karen Waters, the daughter of Rep. Waters, collected nearly $650,000 to date for running the operation for her mother's campaign.
Karen is in charge of a "slate mailer" operation for Citizens for Waters, Rep. Waters' federal campaign committee. Slate mailers, or endorsement mailers, involve a candidate or political group paying for the endorsement of another politician.
quote:
Kamala Harris, the former Democratic attorney general of California who last November won a seat in the U.S. Senate, gave Citizens for Waters $30,000 to appear on the endorsement mailers this past election cycle. Harris previously paid Waters' campaign committee $28,000 in 2010 to appear on the mailers as she was running for attorney general

She should be locked up in a cell with Corrine Brown and Sheila Jackson Lee. All 3 combined wouldn't add up to the IQ of a normal person.
We love our unqualified, corrupt, democrat politicians who are only elected because of identity politics don't we, folks!

Didn't Walter Reed get busted for something like this?

prototypical Democrat politician.
I think this is more out of the typical black pol handbook.
1.) Run for office using signs like, "Our mayor for our community", "Uniting the Community", "The Representative WE Need",etc.
2.) Win election, do nothing
3.) Start stealing money via public funds and fake charities, deposit in your own bank account or a family members.
4.) FBI Investigation
5.) This is a racist witch hunt
6.) Almost win re-election or actually win
7.) Jail

no that was using campaign funds for personal reasons
this is just using campaign funds for political-party reasons, which is legal
and it's not illegal to employ your family in your campaign-related operations, last i heard

was she working for the campaign?
if she was in an operational capacity for the campaign (and not his aid for his governmental position), i don't see why that would be wrong
now the affair would have gotten him in shite, but in terms of legality???

Even if you are paying said family member well above market rates?
My guess is if this scum hired someone she wasn't related to, she'd be paying $15/hr

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) has built a national following largely by preaching an isolationist foreign policy. Stick with your own kind, says the maverick presidential candidate.
And that's more or less what he has been doing over the past few months, putting relatives in a slew of key positions and paying them a total of $169,063, according to the latest campaign finance reports.
Paul's granddaughter Valori Pyeatt helps organize fundraising receptions and has been paid $17,157. Another granddaughter, Laura Paul ($2,724), handles orders for Ron Paul merchandise. Grandson Matthew Pyeatt ($3,251) manages Paul's MySpace profile. Daughter Peggy Paul ($2,224) helps with campaign logistics. The candidate's sons Randall and Robert and his daughter Joy Paul LeBlanc have all been paid for campaign travel and for appearing as surrogates at political events.

90 members (42 Democrats and 48 Republicans) have paid a family business, employer, or associated nonprofit;
20 members (13 Democrats and 7 Republicans) used their campaign money to contribute to a family member's political campaign;
14 members (6 Democrats and 8 Republicans) charged interest on personal loans they made to their own campaigns;
38 members (24 Democrats and 14 Republicans) earmarked to a family business, employer, or associated nonprofit.
Top five representatives who paid family to work for them:
