Maryland's 'Assault Weapon' ban upheld yesterday

Let's hope that Gorsuch gets to hear the appeal.
4th Circuit Upholds Maryland's 'Assault Weapon' Ban
quote:
Yesterday a federal appeals court upheld Maryland's ban on so-called assault weapons, saying ownership of such guns is "not protected by the Second Amendment." The decision, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, overturned a 2016 ruling by a three-judge panel of the same court that said Maryland's law should be subject to "strict scrutiny" because it imposes a "substantial burden" on the right to keep and bear arms.
quote:
Despite the apparent conflict with Heller (and with McDonald v. Chicago, which extended Heller's logic to state and local governments), the Supreme Court so far has not agreed to review any decisions dealing with "assault weapon" bans. In addition to the 4th Circuit, two other federal appeals courts—the D.C. Circuit and the 7th Circuit—have upheld such laws since Heller, while the 9th Circuit has upheld a local law restricting magazine size.

Can one of our resident puss cake liberals define "Assault weapons"?

Ignorance is bliss.
What's the ratio of deaths via "assault weapon" to pistol? Has to be 1:750 at least.
That alone shows how ignorant and blind those who support these bills are.

Not a liberal, but being that most of them are black...must be a racial thing.

Guns with the black thing on the side that goes up.
And all ghost guns.
That was easy.

Liberal infection of our court system has been significant. It's time to counter that trend and reinforce our Constitutional freedoms by stocking conservatives on the bench.

Interesting when the second amendment reads:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
How does the types of firearms Maryland allows is in keeping with "the security of a free state?" How does banning a folding stock, flash hider and threaded barrel not infringe on the 2A?

They can shoot 100 supersonic armor piercing rounds in 3 seconds without reloading their clip once! The muzzle break shoots flames out the side to ignite the poisonous vapors these weapons of death unleash. They are child murdering machines and must be stopped!!

There's certain ways people can quickly identify themselves as a moron in casual conversation. Thinking "AR" stands for "assault rifle" is one of them, right along with "evolution is just a theory" and "vaccines cause autism".

I doubt SCOTUS takes this case up this soon. They have declined several similar cases related to magazine size and such. I believe they were out of the 9th, go figure.

IIRC they have been several assault bans taken up in lower courts with mixed results. I believe SCOTUS is waiting on mixed results to finally weigh in.

Not a puss cake liberal but the definition is scary looking guns, usually black, that go pew everytime you pull the trigger.
Of course that also describes my grandfather's Browning humpack 12 gauge (goes pew everytime you pull the trigger) but they don't let that kind of logic stop them.
