Rubio

Boehner
Graham
Pope Francis, Canada, and President Obama have done an excellent job pissing off the haters. Rubio calls himself a catholic? If his lisp was any stronger he would qualify to dress in drag each day for work at the capital. He really comes off as a little bitch boy wanting reparations.
Rubio
"
quote:
I’m committed to doing everything I can to unravel as many of these changes as possible," he added.
quote:
The Florida senator's powers in that regard will be considerable. Soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) deferred to Rubio when asked for comment on the issue. And when the new, Republican-led Senate comes into session on Jan. 6, Rubio will be the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee's subcommittee on the Western hemisphere, which has oversight responsibility for U.S. dealings in the region.
"This Congress is not going to lift the embargo," Rubio declared at the end of his news conference.
Boehner
quote:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) also slammed the change in policy, saying it "emboldens all state sponsors of terrorism."
"Relations with the Castro regime should not be revisited, let alone normalized, until the Cuban people enjoy freedom -– and not one second sooner," Boehner said in a statement. "There is no 'new course' here, only another in a long line of mindless concessions to a dictatorship that brutalizes its people and schemes with our enemies."
Graham
quote:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), one of the most outspoken Republicans in Congress on matters of foreign policy, threatened to do everything in his power to block funding from being used to set up a U.S. embassy in Cuba. "Normalizing relations with Cuba is bad idea at a bad time," Graham said on Twitter.

They'll change their tune when the polls start coming out. Public opinion seems to be overwhelmingly favorable. It's time those bitter old men in Miami stopped dictating our foreign policy toward Cuba.

The Cuban government stole property and cracked down on anybody who dissented against the regime. But how does being an expat in a country that doesn't allow travel and imposes a 50 year embargo help your cause?
By every measure the only people who have suffered is the Cuban people. The policy only hurts us in Latin America. There is more issues at stake than just these Miami refugees. Plus the Castro brothers are in the twilight of their rule. It makes sense to begin planting the seeds of a more capitalist form of government.

Bet the farm on it....they are on the wrong side of history again. Rubio won't be able to backpedal however because his base will treat him worse than Castro treated his family and theirs back in the day.
This is why they are on the wrong side of history...the embargo has only made things worse for the Cuban people. It hasn't done anything but give the Cuban rulers something to bitch about on the world stage. When the Cuban people realize how great the market works when properly regulated they will be hard to keep on the farm. It ain't going to be easy but it will happen.
Finally the GOP Cubans in Florida who oppose the move because they dream of triumphantly returning to Cuba and reclaiming what was taken from them have lost. That ship has sailed. It is regrettable but when they or their families abandoned their country, no matter the reason, they relinquished any claims they had. That's just the cold hard facts. This is why a person should think long and hard about giving up the fight because the possibility of surviving to get back later is slim.

We all know the main reason for this is to help US capitalists get back into Cuba. Money money ,money. That is why the US Chamber of Commerce is in agreement. Rubio said he is against dealing with those violate Human Rights. Russia and China?
he is representing his district in Miami and has the baggage (legacy) from his family.
Hotel chains will flourish there. Hoepfully this new money will help raise the standard of living there and put more demand son the successors to the Castro brothers for a more open society.
and also screw you Putin

These people are morons.

Don't be naive....
When you send more people to shop at a business, the workers work harder, but it is the owners that benefit the most and receive the money.
If more Americans go to and stay in Cuba, the workers at the hotels, who earn about $ 20 (per MONTH) will not get much benefit, but the OWNERS, the Castro Regime will get more profits.
This is simply a way of helping one of Obama's two favorite leaders (HIS WORDS- not mine) Castro and Chavez.

IMO, Rubio is the only one qualified to speak on this due to his parents coming from there.
The rest are just blowhards trying to stir up the base.
I think all the sanctions against them are stupid considering our relations with China and Vietnam. However, Barry could have negotiated a few concessions for human rights, open elections etc.
He's not too good at this negotiating thing.

I think you are overly pessimistic. The hotel might not pay much more, but the workers' opportunities to get money increase. They just do.

very very little, only in tips...and NOT ALL WORKERS work in jobs where they can get tips by being in contact w the Tourists.
BTW, I am from Cuba, still have family there

idgaf if you are from there. Money in is money in. Opportunities will increase.

not true.. that is just a philosophical view from someone in a capitalist environment.
The government will get AT LEAST 90% of it.
Now, if someone is willing to overlook the human rights, abuses, murders, etc , that's another story.
If you give one party 90% of the money (to one single entity)
and 10% (to be divided among many).
You just strengthen the larger party, which in this case is the Castro regime.
This help is coming at a time when the Venezuelan and Russian help was to have dwindled and the government weakened more ...coincidence ???

Rubio, Boehner, McCain, McConnel, and Graham the worst of the worst the GOP has to offer.

Probably the best broad description of "republican" you will ever see.

You cannot crush Communism with isolation no more than you can save the sinner by shunning them. You must treat communist regimes like fallen sinners, by opening yourself up to them and embracing them, the former with capitalism and free trade, the latter with love and forgiveness. Just as no communist regime can withstand the crushing tide of economics brought about by the market, love can redeem the sinner.
In this case, the smart economic choice is also the humanitarian one. It's been a no-brainer since the Iron Curtain fell, but yet political inertia remained.

Once again..you ASSUME wrongly.
The HUMANITARIAN concept will not apply, it will not get to the people in any meaningful way. It will just solidify the government even more.
Tell me, since the Iron Curtain fell, how is the Russian economy doing ? Has it improved ?

like we are opening up to North Korea and Iran ..
really ???
