You know, in 2011 the Tea Party was being marginalized, mis-characterized and slurred by the media. And they lacked that one essential person who could rally the troops and persuade the people on the sidelines. I had conversations frequently at that time about the emergence of a third party. Everyone assumed it would come from the Libertarian Right.
I heard Trump that night and realized it was much more likely that it would come from the Populist Center. And any populist movement needs a charismatic Man of the People. Hello Donald Trump. He really tapped into the whole Tea Party anti-establishment sentiment, albeit not from a traditional "limited government" perspective but from a "blue-collar working man" perspective. The anxiety was out there and he just artfully tapped into it. It all makes perfect sense when one considers the overwhelming hubris of the political establishment and the Cultural elite.

That is nothing short of awesome.
And how does someone even remember that post from 5 yrs ago as if it were posted yesterday?
Eta: I say this in light of having recently watched the 1987 Larry King interview with DT.

Almost as impressive was that you didn't end your message with FORWARD. That was you're calling card back in those days.

The Simpsons episode aired after he announced. They did predict a Trump Presidency but this pic was from an episode in July 2015.

Well done, Pimp! You've always had great political insight. But I've always been more partial to your quirky sense of humor. Like BHP with a little twist of the knife once it's been inserted juuuuust so...

I like how you stepped away the past few months and let the Decaturs, a wants, ASUrobs bask in their full ensmuggled glory until Tuesday.

My Brother...
I'm definitely going to make the switch from studied pragmatism back to silly humor here soon. There is something about the Left being in the political wilderness that warms my heart. Their hysterical butt-hurt is the antidote to what ills me. Every progressive tantrum is better than the previous. It's glorious.
God bless America. We came to ours senses.
Time to get to work.

Donald Trump floated the idea of running for President as far back as 1988. He even asked to run along with George H.W. Bush, and Bush called it "bizarre".
