This is sickening. And the exact reason I decided not to go to Berkeley this weekend. I fear for Reb fans being attacked because these insane people literally think OM fans are Nazis. Like dude it's gotten so bad there, these people are insane. Its out of control.

Ben Shapiro represents an oppositional viewpoint that conflicts with everything they've been pampered with in their liberal oases, like Berkeley, which sometimes clashes with their ideology, therefore he's the same as anyone else with whom the Left disagrees. They're "protesting" because they can't win in any intellectual capacity so this is simply another form of participation trophies for them to feel vindicated by and more virtuous than their opposition. They protest for "woke" points. Points that mean absolutely nothing in regards to truth. The content of the speech tonight means nothing to them. All that matters is that other leftists will see their faux outrage, and all the subsequent faux outrage those leftist will mimic in response.

In anticipation of Thursday's event, the Berkeley City Council authorized police to use pepper spray on violent protesters, reversing a 20-year ban on the weapon, CNN affiliates reported.
The school was also to provide support and counseling services for students and staff over the Shapiro event.
"We are deeply concerned about the impact some speakers may have on individuals' sense of safety and belonging," said a UC Berkeley notice sent to students. "No one should be made to feel threatened or harassed simply because of who they are or for what they believe. For that reason, the following support services are being offered and encouraged."
It went on to list student and employee support services.
Finally:
Shapiro mocked the notion that students may need counseling due to his speech.
"If you feel you need counseling because of my speech, you probably did need some sort of psychiatric help before that."

They are protesting truly free speech. Their ideal is that all speech must agree with their philosophies, if it doesn't then it must be shouted and/or beaten down.
The irony is that they accuse ANYONE that doesn't agree with them as being fascists yet THEY are the ones being fascists.
I think there's another point though... Just like these Muslim Jihadis, these are young idealists that have energy to burn. This is the age when they look for "the good fight" but living in a first world country there really isn't much to fight (especially at the base level they crave) so they manufacture it by positioning themselves (at least in their own minds) as victims.

It is very simple. Their goal is to suppress speech of those who do not support increasing government size and control. Their tactic is to suppress through physical intimidation. They want people too scared to talk in public.

When you break it down to it'd core, they believe speech can be used as violence. In their fricked up understanding of life, anyone who disagrees with them is a Nazi/Facist/whatever and those ideas led to massive death and destruction, so cracking some heads now is the right and noble thing to do.
For whatever reason, they always forget Stalin and Pol Pot were communists.

They want socialism! I talked to some of these people during the election cycle and that's their goal. They want no part of self reliance and personal responsibility, it's all about homogenizing society so everyone can "feel good" about themselves.
