Liberals: Explain to me why Alfie Evans shouldn't be able to go to Italy

He's been taken off life support and has lived for 24 hours - way past the 15 minutes that doctors testified he would live.

Italy has granted the child citizenship and has offered to provide healthcare at no cost to anyone other than the Italian government. Italy has a military ambulance ready to go.

The Italian embassy in London has informed the UK if they let him die, then they will file a formal complaint with the EU for the state murder of an Italian citizen.

My question is simple - what is wrong with letting him go to Rome?

When the death certificate for Alfie Evans is issued, under “cause of death” it ought to say this: pride. The pride of a judge who did not want his judgment questioned. The pride of doctors who did not want to be proven wrong. The pride of a government that claims authority over life and death. “Tyranny” and “unconscionable evil” could also be cited.

They know what's best.

They are the government.

the craziest part is the government's argument is the travel may kill the kid

as they withdraw the machines keeping him alive

quote:

The decisions of the trial judge clearly amount to decisions that the parents have no right to direct Alfie’s future medical treatment. This is not a criticism of them. How could it be? It simply means that they cannot take Alfie from Alder Hey for the purpose of transporting him at some risk to other hospitals which can do him no good.

No progressive will come on here and argue for this boy to be killed because it's bad PR, but this is the end result of their ideology. For all the feigned compassion towards the oppressed and defenseless, this is the end result of an ideology that believes people are merely chattel of the state. When belief in natural law vanishes, you have this dystopian nightmare to look forward to.

If one goes, then all of them will feel like they have a right to the best health care they can get.

Next thing you know, people will want to pick the school their kid goes to.

You gotta think this stuff out, man.

yeah they literally only have "well a judge ruled and it's the laws of the UK" argument

this Italy variable changes everything. they can't even argue "costs", which should be their "go to"

shite like this is why I don’t think slippery slope arguments are invalid. On the contrary, I think they tend to be accurate in terms of what happens when a government is left to expand without opposition in all fronts of life.

Too much state control is demonstrably a bad thing and can lead to some really awful situations.

I just am in utter disbelief the citizenry is okay with this. There should be an uproar. The 30 cops guarding this kid should be viewed as bad people, not protectors of the citizenry.

I’ve seen the same stupid arguments from our resident socialists here regarding healthcare in that “people are too stupid to make their own decisions, so the government should make their decisions for them”

This is absolutely the end result of that madness.

The British are a neutered and self-loathing people. They have accepted being completely disarmed. They have accepted omnipresent cameras and the constant monitoring of CCTV. They have accepted speech codes so harsh that many of us would run the risk of being charged for things we discuss on here daily. They have accepted having their culture ripped away from them by unfettered immigration. And they don't care, because the percentage of people dependent on government benefits there dwarfs even our country. They have traded individual liberty and dignity for welfare and dependency. I say this as someone who absolutely adores British history and traditional British culture: the United Kingdom is a lost cause.

Doesn’t the MI-5 also monitor all of British citizens?

Could give a personal life experience with "The State" and healthcare, but will not muddy this discussion with it. Bottom line, these bastards and I include the Obamacare crowd in them should see this and take a hard look inside of their stone cold hearts.
