Liberal Mindset would seem to lend to being Courteous

However it sure doesn't.
Just got back to suburbs of San Francisco from 5 weeks in Gulfport. The mindsets and people are so different, shocking, I know.
You would think liberals with their open and accepting ways would be genuinely good people that care about others. Being tolerant of others, but not really giving 2 shits about them boggles my mind. Was walking my 1 and a half year old through a crosswalk today holding his hand in a nice shopping center we have here. Cars, hybrid mind you, still passing through the cross walk as we are in it or waiting to enter. I take my little chunk to get frozen yogurt and as he's standing next to me an older girl 8-10 maybe bumps into him and knocks him over. Neither her nor her parents say an excuse me, or i'm sorry to the 1 and a half year old who's clearly upset he just got knocked over. Finally get him squared away, there are no tables inside and it's 105 outdoors in the sun, so don't care to take him out there to eat his yogurt. Mom of the same girl that bumped my dude over is sitting down waiting for them to finish, only empty table in the place, while i stand there holding the lil guy for a few minutes.
The lack of common courtesy is just astounding from people that pretend to care so much about absolutely everyone.
In the south of course, very different, people much more willing to go out of their way and be friendly.

As long as it's other people's money and as long as you accept their views.
Peel the onion just a layer or two and you'll see that Progressivism depends on the threat of violence and theft in order to "work".
They have an immoral philosophy, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that a ton of them are dickheads.

Not if you understand the root if their ideology.
Using the threat of state violence to impose their will on those who have committed no crime, for the purpose of consolidating resources under the state. The progressive ideology is the most vile and violent concept evee created, and it resulted in hundreds of millions of deaths in the last 100 years. Excluding wartime casualties. Though I Would include those numbers too.

Being polite (like paying for stuff) is something they expect other people to do for their benefit but not something they want to do themselves. In their minds they are perfect and everyone else should change.

I suspect it has a lot to do with the Puritan ethos. The health and "righteousness" of the community was paramount to the Puritans. What you wanted or thought mattered, but what the community wanted or believed mattered a whole lot more.
The righteousness bit helps explain why the progressives are so intolerant. Like the Puritans, they feel compelled to "drive out error."

Interesting take. It's my opinion that this disease began flourishing in Europe in the 1800s and spread westward with the help of European immigrants. I'm not sure how the puritan ethos is pivotal to that.
I do find it funny that the collectivist morons who first began settling America died off almost immediately, before finally hiring a real capitalist to explain how to thrive in a new land through property ownership and hard work.

Its been my experience that most people do not have a strong political affiliation with either party. So basically you just guessed.

Northern culture also supplanted southern culture on the national level after the Civil War. National norms were driven by what northerners thought. That's still true now.
