Let's review the Media's characterization of each recent Republican President

Trump- Loose cannon, racist
W Bush - Dumb
HW Bush - Wimp, out of touch
Reagan - Old, senile, dumb
Ford - Dumb?
Nixon - Crooked (well...)
Eisenhower- ?
W Bush - Dumb
HW Bush - Wimp, out of touch
Reagan - Old, senile, dumb

Never heard Reagan called dumb. The rest I have heard and agree with some of it.

Now now.
Each media outlet has its own spin. Let's focus on the most mainstream one in America
Trump- loose cannon
W- wasn't conservatice enough but very godly man
Hw- not really discussed that much.
Reagan- we all wish we could be him.
Nixon- crooked because we'll he was. But mostly the subject is avoided.
I think Yours was a good example of msnbc which is the least popular of the main stream media.

Do know how far back you want to go with recent but that's not how the media portray d Reagan. And they are spot on with the last two

I had HBO on in my hotel at New Years and they showed an old Bill Maher show (at least I think it was him, I had been drinking) from right after Reagan was elected. He was using the exact same material as the left used for Bush and Trump to call him stupid.

First Reagan was a war-mongering cowboy who was going to start WWIII. Toward the end of his 2nd term rumors of Alzheimer's began cropping up so it was more "senility" than dumb.
HW was considered a sort of slow-witted salesman (more of the "dumb" criticism went toward Quayle, especially after his spelling gaffe).
