Lets label food-stamp eligible foods

Make only basic, nutritional foods eligible for the food stamp program.

No candy, sodas, chips, junk food of any kind.

If our food producers can label everything in english and spanish, as has been done ever the past 15 years, for the 20 million or so "Americans" who don't speak English, surely we can label only good nutritious foods as "EBT egligible" for the 50 million EBT users.

That way, we can ensure that our poor, helpless, hopeless chilrens aren't being given unhealthy foods that will cause them health problems, which other people will be required to pay for.

Considering the poor and people on these programs are statistically more prone to generating diseases such as HBP and Diabetes, this should be institutionalized for health purposes.

You assume that people who use food stamps can read.

The big money people from Coke, Lays, etc. would never allow it to happen. Just sit back and watch it all collapse.

Is your goal to reduce fraud or reduce diabetes rates? Sounds sensible but this won't work.

Once I bought $300 worth of food stamps for $100. There is always a way to get around the system.

This would require the government to supplement the cost + the loss of revenue from lack of food stamp purchases.

There are way too many people on welfare that don't know WTF to do with a stove and pots and pans.

So? Hunger would be an excellent motivator to learn.

There's this grocery store I go to sometimes where people sit out front and tell you they'll pay for your food on an EBT card, $1 cash for every $2 spent.

It's not about food and nutrition, it's about giving the poors just enough money to keep quiet and out of the rich hoods.

I get your point, but in reality, the food stamp program would double in cost.

For $5.00 of food stamps, you can cheaply choose out of these packaged items to feed you, your wife & your three kids:
-five frozen tv dinners
-five frozen pizzas
-five cheap sugary cereal boxes
-five big bags of off-brand potato chips
-five 3-liter off-brand soda
-five items of canned spaghetti & meatballs
-or five McDoubles/five soft tacos/five small frosties/ 25 total chicken nuggets
(the list is endless)

But for $5.00 of food stamps spent on local organic produce aimed at feeding said 5 people, you can get:
-2 large Navel oranges or..
-8 oz. of almonds
-3 avocados or...
-one half-gallon of organic milk or...
-two bushels of Kale

The roars would have lawmakers increasing the food stamp allotment to meet the new "healthy-eligible-food" guidelines.

Bingo. Project housing and welfare is to keep the miscreants isolated and relatively content.

I have called the LBJ Great Society legislation by its name in truth for years, it is STFU money. It silenced the race riots happening across the nation in major urban areas after its passage.

People still get around the system. selling food stamps for cash is a big way they get around. I say put a picture of the individual that is approved to use on the card and no more regular credit card. Automatically put x amount of money on card and when its gone, its gone. Need to give stiff penalties for people that abuse the system.
