I have listened to and watched all of the pundits, talking heads, etc on all the cable news networks and listened to them being interviewed on radio, I am yet to hear any one of these people, be it Republican or Democrat present any examples of what else they want the Trump administration to do with regard to Russia.

So I ask the following to those that have a problem with how this administration is handling Russia,

What else do you want them to do?

The sanctions that Obama put in regarding Crimea are still in place, the Trump administration has not indicated that they are rolling them back.

So the way I see it, here are the choices:

1) A strong tongue lashing where in Trump comes out and calls Putin a POS murdering thug- this one seems to be the one that legislators seem most interest in- so heightened rhetoric.

2) Military build up in the Baltic states and in the countries of our Eastern European allies;- again to our friends on the Left and the Right that do not want to get involved with anymore "foreign" wars this action would be in direct contradiction to the no more US military involvement around the word;

3) More sanctions- sounds good but what specifically would you like to add;

4) Military response to them buzzing our naval ships- i.e. shooting their planes down;

5) Invasion of Crimea with US land forces forcing them out- which essentially means war with Russia;

6) Invasion of Russia directly - again war with Russia

So come on experts, what is your game plan with regard to Russia?

All I am hearing is Trump errrr Russia, our elections, our democracy, the administration must do something!!

Well what do you want them to do?

They just want to whine about stuff. Whether it's Russia, "unequal pay", "equal rights", etc. they have no real plans, no list of demands, nothing constructive or bipartisan...they literally want to just scream, whine, and break things like little babies. Ask them to elaborate or create a list of demands and you get either silence or more blathering.

I can't answer without fully knowing his and his administrations's financial ties, if any, to the region. His word is not enough, as he is a proven liar.

I want everyone to stop having such double standards. Russia is not our friend. I appreciate trump trying to mend relations as much as possible but he's not going somehow outwit a psycho like putin. I saw threads that said "Leftists all of a sudden hate commies??" well guess what, some of y'all have all of a sudden embraced them. Someone on this board wished putin would have been on the ballot in '16. The idea of pissing off the other side has become more important than working together and until this "snowflake, melt, cuck" bullshite from the right and the "racist, literally hitler, sexist" bullshite from the left stops we are so fricked.

Grow up.

So answer the question what would be satisfactory as it relates to handling Russia?

Sounds like you just want some heightened rhetoric to come out of the admistrstion.

Ok, great what is that supposed to do?

Whatever is the complete opposite of what they'd have wanted for the past 16 years

Do you have another solution besides tweets? I don't think anyone has a solution for this. We're dealing with people who very well be more insane and corrupt than us. I think Trump is doing okay, I don't dislike the guy he's had a freakin month. I just can't believe some people started actually sort of trusting Putin.

I have never defended the president's Twitter habits and frankly am not a huge fan of his Twitter rants. I do think he bites at too much of the bait thrown his way and needs to practice more self restraint. That said, liberals are marching for literally no reason at all, other than to complain about vague "rights" they feel are being trampled upon, and not providing any real solutions.

You know what, you still voted for this clown. By allowing him to becoming POTUS, you might as well condone everything he says, you obviously agree with him.

I want them to be honest about the ties to Russia and articulate why Russia is being given the green light to increase its expansion into its neighboring countries and violate arms treaties without a peep from the White House, while the White House looks for ways to eliminate or lessen sanctions against Russia for doing these very things. Tell us what the hell is going on and we will talk about response.

As for the present situation, we want the White House to continue the policy of action from a position of strength in the protection of our own interests and those of our necessary allies.

These are rational and reasonable positions.

Stonewalling, secrecy and appeasement are not.

I'm hoping he invites Putin to a State dinner and lets him sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom.

That would be Glorious!!!

How do you know for whom I voted? I was against Hillary Clinton, but I have never divulged on here my vote choice. You seem to be assuming a lot of things today.

- Sanctions should stay in place. If they're lifted it should only be part of a deal, and that deal should be negotiated with a harsh enforcement provision for non-state actors so Russia can't just wink and nod and send "patriotic citizen volunteers" who just happen to own T-72s.

- Firm statement that the US NATO guarantees remain in place for the next four years. I'm all for twisting arms on defense spending, but do so through back channels and pressure on non-military issues like TTIP, not by making it ambiguous whether we'll intervene or not because that kind of ambiguity is Not Good. The 2% commitment isn't in the NATO text, it's always been an informal metric. If you want it to be binding, amend the treaty or layer over it with the majors.

- Discard the fantasy that Russia will be an ally against ISIS. Russia won't seriously fight ISIS until every other non-regime actor in Syria is buried. Allying with them would mean selling out the Kurds and driving every Sunni directly into the arms of Nusra. Just get out of Syria entirely and let them own the next generation of blowback.

- Also discard the fantasy that you're going to successfully play Russia and Iran off each other. A bright Risk player could see through this gambit, and in Risk you can't build oil pipelines through the Shia crescent. Plus as autocracies, Iran and Russia will always see each other as more reliable rather than a messy country like us where any crazy Twitter troll can get elected and do a 180 on policy.

- Stop pointless saber-rattling over worthless sand spits in the China Sea. We need China's cooperation to deal with actual threats like North Korea, so antagonizing them over building sea bases in what is basically their back yard accomplishes nothing. Same with openly flirting with Taiwan independence. Yes everyone knows Taiwan is a country, but this is the good kind of ambiguity because it lets China save face.
