KALB

67-25 margin

Kind of surprised... was expecting this to be shot down.

On to the Senate

Edit:
quote:

The bill authored by State Rep. Cedric B. Glover (D - Shreveport) would make possessing marijuana a misdemeanor crime with a max fine of $100 for possession of 14 grams or less.

The legalization bill won’t pass. It’s stupid but this is a middle ground.

I didn’t realize they had two bills going. What is this one that passed? Just some type of appeasement or a way of gauging support?

And how is decriminalized??? Misdemeanors are still crimes right? What a sham

You can have 14 grams and only get a 100 fine. Mississippi has had similar rules for 10+ years. Would be a huge fail if this is all they can do.

I watched a lady light up in front of the Riverside Hilton last Friday around 7:00 PM. Several families were walking with their young kids in and out of the hotel. Trashy……….

It's because the head of the House committee on criminal justice (Sherman Mack) is a reefer madness buffoon. He attempted to gut the bill by putting the exact same penalties in place as now for first time offenses and slightly lower the second offense penalties. It took a compromise and amendment on the floor to even get back to the $100 fine for first time offenses.
