Krauthammer: Obamacare laid bare

"Maybe the bystander president was as surprised by [the forced cancellations] as he claims to have been by the IRS scandal, the Associated Press and James Rosen phone logs, the failure of the Obamacare Web site, the premeditation of the Benghazi attacks, the tapping of Angela Merkel’s phone — i.e., the workings of the federal government of which he is the nominal head."

"Still, how could he imagine getting away with a claim sure to be exposed as factually false? The same way he maintained for two weeks that false narrative about Benghazi. He figured he’d get away with it."

"And he did. Simple formula: Delay, stonewall and wait for a supine and protective press to turn spectacularly incurious."

"And then when you find your policy canceled, your premium raised and your deductible outrageously increased, you’ve learned the real meaning of “free” in the liberal lexicon: something paid for by your neighbor — best, by subterfuge."

Even after being exposed, Obama's approval rating is at 42%.

I have to assume that 42% are comfortable with fraud and lies.

Sad and scary.

At least half of that 42% are the totally ignorant. They never watch or discuss the news and are the ones that are featured in 'Man on the Street' type comedy segments where everybody laughs at the ignorant responses to easy questions.

He's used the term "...the supine press" a couple of times lately. That pretty much explains it. It's Krauthammer's subtle way of challenging the press to come clean on the issue and fess up.

I always thought Krauthammer supported competetition. It's a funny to watch him ignore his belief system when it comes to health insurance and the newly formed exchanges.

competetition.

You really can't be as stupid as the person you play on the internet. Not possible. If you were, you wouldn't know how to use the keyboard.

Concentrate on typo. Ignore the fundamental flaw in Krauthammer's thinking.

Um. I wasn't actually referring to the typo. I'm referring to your embarrassing understanding of the term competition.

I am more concerned about our "prone society"...

It's never a competition when one side is fixed (Obamacare, unnecessary mandated coverages, buy it or pay a fine).

If your company is picking up the tab for a meal, do you worry if someone in the group orders an extra appetizer?

There is one hell of a hole in your logic. Can you spot it?

BCBS sure understood the market. Let me guess.. You think the govt is competing against BCBS in these exchanges.

Who said that? Obamacare in no way increased competition. It has forced under penalty of taxes and law you purchase only what the gov believes you should purchase. Period.

You may not be smart enough to figure what is best for you but most Americans are. I am not sure what a troll requires in insurance these days but I know the gov will decide what is best for you. Oh sorry they will decide what the insurance companies can offer you.

Well, for starters there was already competition. You could check with Humana, Blue Cross, United, etc. and get quotes long before there was such a thing as an exchange.

As a bonus, under the old system you had a greater variety of choices for your plan. So Ogumpcare = less competition.

No. Edit- and yes. The evil insurer will be the scapegoat of things to come, not the regulation of guys with vasectomies paying for plans requiring birth control.

Do you think the government is handcuffing the insurers to decide what hospitals are for the poor and which hospitals are for the wealthy?

It is actually the reverse of competition. Doctors are fleeing from participating in Obamacare. Some of the exchanges only have 1 carrier.

Would you be for the gov. forcing all citizens to purchase extended warranties on all consumer purchases that offered one?
