Man she is one deep thinker.

quote:

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., said that Democrats have a message “much bigger” than opposing President Trump and that the party is focused on telling Americans “we see them.”

quote:

“It’s going to be multitiered, but essentially it’s about telling the American public we see them,” Harris said of the Democrats’ message.

We see them...as necessary pawns in our game where power is at stake. The problem isn't seeing the people but seeing them as segmented victim groups.

Ok, at least now I finally know who she is. Keep hearing her name all the time but I'm always like, who?

...?

Well, she's not "wrong". The Dems lost the public because they kept focusing on championing the more and more obscure group while forgetting that the majority of American voters simply didn't fall into the areas they wanted to protect.

It is a pretty basic message, but it technically is the one the Dems need to focus on if they want to remain a viable political force.

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake

Sooo...they were saying "we see you" to the ones that felt 'unseen'.

So, to correct their loss - they will say "we see you" to the ones that felt 'unseen'?

That seems logical.

I suppose. I didn't listen to her speak; I'm only going off of the quoted portions in the thread here. I mean, if we only attributed sound bites and nothing else to everything ever said by politicians, they'd all look like loons.

I'm presuming some context. I don't think it's an insane concept.

How do they plan to cater to the extreme loonies in the party while at the same time trying to reach the average American? They can't do it. Any attempt to move towards the middle is going to send the crazies that now constitute the Democratic Party into a full blown melt down. They have shown zero issues with burning shite down, causing chaos and generally acting like children... They have gone so far left, that my lifelong democrat voting roommate from the great state of Michigan is actually excited to see kid rock make a run for senate, and was actually saying good things about Ted Nugent a couple days ago. I'm also pretty sure he voted for Trump despite him never admitting to it.

Although what she said is borderline retarded, she is smart in marketing herself this way.

Sitting back and being quiet (in both parties really) won't earn you the famed recognition you seek. Need to make a splash and that is what she is doing - regardless if her message is off
