Get rid of the state by state insurance boundaries and let us buy our insurance from any state.

stop with the hyperbole... it rose, but it's no worse of a rise than BEFORE the ACA...

guess Obamacare is responsible for this too, huh?

health care spending increases did NOT start with the ACA... it's BEEN increasing steadily, as you can see, for decades...

Actually the KFF projected in 2008 that insuring a typical family of 4 would cost > $17,000 per year in 2014 (numbers are from memory -they may be off by a tad but close).

That is what prompted Obama and McCain to make HC reform a centerpiece in their campaigns in the first place.

Chrxis made the point/provided chart. I was conservative in my numbers

The costs of the health care kept on climbing that is definitely true.

The thing is who was forking out the cash for it. If like most people your deductible got jacked up the answer is you.

Which is exactly the reason rates will go up faster if this passes. If you don't have people who are young and not likely to use their insurance in the market then the prices for everyone else have to go way up or the insurance company will lose money. It's basic math.

I don't think we'll ever go back to pre-ACA deductible levels.

As far as this projection goes, I'll wait and see. There were a lot of projections from Harvard types about ACA that were flat out wrong.

Is this the thread where progressives suddenly become concerned about rising health care premiums ?

so stop with Obamacare shite (not you specifically, i'm just responding to your post)... this problem of increased healthcare costs predates Obama by DECADES...

i know he's vilified on this board, and there is reason for that, i get it... but let's keep it honest, keep it 100%... this shite did NOT start with Obama nor Obamacare...

I would take a higher deductible if monthly premiums were lower.

you may want to look at that chart again, bud... this is NON-partisan problem... stop trying to politicize it... EVERYONE, regardless of political party, is concerned about healthcare costs.... they have differing opinion on how to lower them, but don't act like the other side the aisle just doesn't give a shite...

It is a partisan problem.

Medicare (brought to you by LBJ and the Dems) has been the cost driver over the last 50 years (your own chart shows the separation from the other trendlines commencing in 1965).

Obamacare just fricked everything else up, including insurance coverage.
