Kaiser Family Foundation President: Insurance deductibles to sharply rise under Trumpcare

Sounds like Trumpcare care is going to be a lot shittier than Obamacare

Republicans like Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have often pointed to the high insurance deductibles that Americans face under Obamacare as evidence of the health reform law's failure. This has always been an awkward and transparently cynical line of attack, since basically every replacement plan Republicans have floated over the years has been designed to allow insurers to sell cut-rate coverage with even higher deductibles. This is no less true of the proposal now making its way through the House of Representatives, which is designed to let carriers sell plans that cover less of their customers' health costs.
And so, in the brave new world of Trumpcare, average deductibles are almost certainly going to go up. In a column at Axios, Kaiser Family Foundation President Drew Altman estimates that the deductible in a “typical plan” will rise about $1,550, from $2,150 to to $4,100. He bases this calculation on the Congressional Budget Office's projection that the average “actuarial value” of insurance plans on the individual market—how much of customers' expenses they cover, on average—will fall from 72 percent to 65 percent.

They had already risen exponentially because of Obamacare.
Thanks for leading the charge for opposing Trumpcare and instead completely repealing Obamacare

No one will care . People don't keep up with this stuff. They'll believe whatever the media tells them to believe
Obamacare didn't sink the Dems, their idiotic moral pandering to minority groups did

For those keeping score, KFF is non-partisan in the same way NPR is. They've been some loyal supporters of Obamacare while hiding behind that veil.

Why would anyone with a brain or without a brain trust KFF's numbers? They miscalculated the ACA's and medicaid expansion every single time they made a prediction.

Currently our family deductible has gone up along with our premiums. I currently have 2 deductible options. I'm so sick of this damn so called health insurance. Between monthly premiums, coninsurance, and deductible we will have paid $20,000 for the latest little one born in February. Affordable health care act hahahahahaha!! I truly despise some of our politicians.

Meh, you don't have to buy it now.

What did the Kaisers say about insurance deductibles under the UNaffordable Care Act?
Posted on 3/22/17 at 11:17 pm to Toddy
So, I have higher car and home deductibles than most, so I can pay less a month
Whats the problem?
(just plan on saving up so that each time you have to go to the ER to have a gerbil removed from your anus, you can meet your dedcutible)

$6,000 for non-smokers.
It would be cheaper to pay the penalty and purchase catastrophic insurance thats how big a turd the "affordable" care act is.

No one on the Democrat side GAF that we went from 10% of insured people with a deductible of $1000 or greater to over 50% of people insured with a deductible of over $1000 under Ocare. So I'm not going to GAF about this.
