There needs to be a national ban on people named Ottotard that have to live with a housemate because of the failures Ottotard had in life.

I wonder which candidate people will most “blame” for Roe v Wade being overturned.

Why?? Its settled, done. Gone to the states. Why do they need to carry on about it?

Because they have to make a big issue out of a very controversial and divisive subject that should be a non-issue, to ensure that they set themselves up for monumental losses. They're not paid to represent their constituency and they couldn't care less about the people they represent. They're paid to do a job, and that job is to continue losing.

The GOPe and the DNC are combined to form the Establishment Uniparty. The DNC is the Etatist "action" wing, and the GOPe is the controlled opposition wing.

The two-party system became a single party at some point. Maybe it always has been, and some of us are just realizing it now. Personally, I think it began with the JFK assassination.

For example, remember when Lindsay Graham said he wanted a federal ban abortion just before the midterms? Yeah, that was a gift to the Democrats and he knew it. The last thing these entrenched GOP politicians what is to win too much. They want to win just enough to stay in office and continue to allow the Democrats to run things and they can enjoy the DC grift with plausible deniability.
Yes, I remember. I think you are absolutely right.

The candidates probably won't make it "front and center" on their own volition. However, the useless media handling the debates will force them to. Which begs the question: are debates even necessary in 2024?

Prior to the advent of cable TV, 24 hour new stations, the internet, and social media, a debate or two on network television might be the only time many Americans got to see a candidate speak, and getting information on the candidates was largely limited to reading newspapers/magazines, and campaign ads.

Today, just about every adult American can research every minute detail of any candidate, and almost literally hear them speak every single day.

Given that, as well as how unabashedly leftist the media has fully embraced, what is the benefit of any GOP candidate participating in a debate? It's simply just an opportunity for leftist media moderators to ask "gotcha" question and set up negative soundbites.

I don't think ANY GOP candidate benefits in any manner from a televised debate today.

My presumption is his angle is that the abortion issue is more of a weakness for Trump than the others because Trump appointed three justices who were in the majority for Dobbs.

I don't want to hear campaign speeches, or some guy on a soapbox. Not interested--I can go read their website if I want canned-stump-speech language. I want to hear how candidates respond and react when their ideas are challenged and their records are questioned live. Charisma, intelligence, and the ability to articulate a message in real time are as much of necessary attributes for a potential POTUS as policy positions, IMO.

Sure, the media ruins debates with awful questioning, but that doesn't mean there is no place for debates.

You're saying this is a weakness of Trump as a republican candidate?

They shouldn't talk about abortion at all in this debate if they're serious about winning elections

The only thing they’re serious about is making sure trump doesn’t win, so they can get back to business as usual.

It doesn’t matter if the electorate chooses a D or an R so long as they’re on the approved list of candidates. Candidates who will ensure that the corruption gravy train is never lifted and continues to be an onerous burden on the backs of the American populace.

They could give a shite about the mechanism that allows them to do this, be it abortion or otherwise. The issues at hand are always secondary to the intended outcome.

there are just so many women who won't stand for a politician deciding what they can/cant do.

So it's not o.k. for a politician to decide that a woman can't rob a bank? Or rape someone else with a broom handle? Or steal? Or drive drunk?

Politicians decide what women (and men) can and cannot do all the time. Almost always when what they want to do represents a negative externality to another human being.

I know you said you're pro-life, but if that's true, let's not perpetuate the opposition's talking points.

The GOPe doesn’t want to win if they cannot avoid Trump winning the nomination.

They will try to throw the election.

Same thing happened with the midterms when it appeared Trump backed candidates would give them control of the Senate.

GOPe definitely doesn't want Trump to win, their influence grows weaker and weaker the more populism increases.

quote:

Every candidate on stage in Milwaukee tonight:

- Supports continuing the war in Ukraine

- Supports the neoliberal trade agenda that decimated American Industry

- Believes Joe Biden won the 2020 election

- Is beholden to the donor class

None of them deserve your vote

Thats simply not true. It’s settled that currently, there is no federal statute making abortion illegal nationwide.

Thats far from a completely settled issue.
