But I do question the professionalism of his HR Department.
Do you question the point of his thread that his insurance rates are skyrocketing? Or are you just going to continue your strategy to divert attention away from that?

Hate that for you.

Interesting to note that at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama, the top 10 executives have seen salary increases of over 50% over the past 2-3 years.

So it is fair to blame ACA for some of these rate increases, but look into what your insurance company is paying its executives. Some are using ACA to justify huge salary increases.

they are indicating the op is full of shite as no professional company involved in health insurance would call the Affordable Care Act in correspondence referring to it as Obamacare.

To be clear, it was one of the partners conveying the office insurance situation given to them from HR. So it was a "matter of fact" type of email, and not some official document generated from an insurance or HR representative. His decision to use the term "Obama Care" and not "Affordable Care Act" doesnt' really matter.

What matters is that the typical ~5% annual increase is about to get octupled. What happens at the next renewal?

Can you do the math for me and tell me how much insurance rates would go down to everyone on a BCBS of Alabama plan if those execs completely eliminated their pay rates? Not just reduced them to the previous levels, but completely eliminated.

I have a feeling the point you're trying to make really isn't a very valid point.

HRs probably got tired of answering, "What is ACA?" a long time ago. Just go with what people understand.

Let's keep count...in order to divert attention away from the massive rate increase your company's employees have to deal with we have Obamabots trying to make the main issue:

1) how the company communication referred to the ACA,
2) how much insurance senior officers are paid, and,
3) single payer would be better.

Have I missed anything?

As you recall we opted to do an early renewal of our health insurance coverage last December 2013 to avoid a significant increase expected at our normal renewal in June 2014 due to Obama Care. By doing this, we were able to keep our rates very close to what we had been paying. With our December 2014 renewal approaching we have been informed by Coventry that our rates will increase 42.9% if we stay with them and our current plans. Naturally, we
are looking at options....

I call BS on this! Everybody knows that you're going to save on average 2,500 a year.
You're just a racist!

Yes. These are smaller companies with less than 100 lives. They tend to be more informal. Larger companies with 100 or more lives tend to be more "professional". Although they tend to be more "professional" it doesn't make them any more competent then their smaller companies counterparts.

3) Single payer would be better & politicians are in the pocket of the insurance companies so we'll never get it.

And there you have it. This is the reason we will never go to single payer like the left thinks we will. The insurance companies are running the show. The politicians are in their back pockets. No way this relationship is killed by single payer. There is way, way too much money on the table for the politicians and insurance companies. They just won't give it up, ever.

So can you add up the costs of the salaries for all these top executives and tell me what % of the expenditures of BC/BS that is?
