Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said Thursday that he would not join a Democratic filibuster of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, arguing that the integrity of the Senate needs to be preserved.

Manchin, a conservative Democrat and key vote, told Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric that Senate decorum needs to be preserved and that it started to fall apart in 2013 when then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid instituted the so-called nuclear option.

“That’s not what the Founding Fathers decided for this body. This body’s a very unique body, a very deliberate body, supposed to be the teapot cooling the tea off,” Manchin said.

It's time for Joe to come home to the republican party. I am willing to trade McCain and Graham for him.

He'll be "moderate" until he's re-elected.

I don't know if I have a problem with this. It's obvious he is paying attention to his constituents. Isn't that what we want?

that's fine, let him pretend he's moderate and then get a conservative to beat him next time

probably the best strategy for the dems is to start a fillibuster and have a few dems break rank so it falls apart in a week. Shouldn't be too hard to find 8-10 dems to bolt

I'd throw in $500 and a 23rd round pick in the MLB draft.

Seems to me that he's one of the few Senators up their looking out for his constituents.

He's for sure one of the few I can recall recently when interviewed talking about doing what the people who sent him there want done.
