You know damn well that would be labeled racist by the left.

The left is a dying breed. They're going the way of the Aztec. Soon they will be seen as a near mythological people with odd rituals.

I think that's a very good idea, as I firmly believe people do want to work most of the time but fall into the jobless rut and feel habitually hopeless/without purpose. I can see how it would be very easy to lose motivation.

Honest question: Do you think status quo is fine and should not change? If change, what is your idea?

Why do you think the government has created all-day kindergarten and head start programs?!?! FREE childcare paid for by the taxpayers.

While I would love it, I don't believe any politician in America has the political will, even Trump.

The entitlement class is too ingrained.

I think a gradual reduction in benefits and a severe increase in enforcement and beaurocracy to make it extremely cumbersome and difficult to get and keep benefits.

The way I figure it, I should get free lawncare, maid service and car washes for the next 40 years.

The vast majority of people have no problem with welfare and other assistance. It should not be a way of life or multi generational.

That should be the fight.

Current system is to create dependent poor poeople and it's not fine. Tie welfare (any benefits) to education/job training and decrease it over time until its cut off.

I'd prefer cutting it altogether for able bodied but it's too powerful a political tool.

This job mandate is more government action to failed government and government action doesn't work.

I think it's bullshite and will believe it when I see it.

I can't imagine how it would be implemented.

A temporary assistance program for able bodied is fine. There is a cycle to being poor that needs to be broken. It can be an opportunity to get on your feet, stay off the street etc. I like less homeless in my cities man

Correct. The current system discourages self improvement for the most part. It encourages working few hours to maximize income with work/welfare and discourages nuclear families. However, a work mandate will just encourage people to seek disability.

Homelessness is another issue altogether. Most are mentally ill and/or chronically addicted. They generally have been known to trade benefits for cash to buy booze/drugs.

Where is the "job mandate" talk leaking from?

Do you know someone on the president's staff?

There is no amount of benefits that can cure homelessness short of locking them up. Most are mentally ill or drug addicts who choose that life.

The VA had an aggressive anti-homelessness program for veterans with a huge budget. Basically they would pay for a home for them and often buy them a home.

It was minimally affective, because they were mostly beyond help.

This is a whole other matter.
