To be fair, those are ground based lasers.... but I have no doubt something similar could be, and already is, satellite-based. Historically, we know the gov is several decades ahead of what we know, technologically. And we already have pretty awesome lasers of various kinds in the private sector.

You can disagree, dislike, or even hate the jews, but you cannot deny their intelligence.

Remember when the leftists laughed at him about this? They even created a movie mocking it. They'd cut off their own noses to spite their faces.

Damn, that's terrifying. How much energy do those consume with each blast? I'm guessing too much for a sat to hold, but I could be wrong.

Claim of viral footage showing Israel’s Iron Beam system is misinformation
Joedy McCreary
October 19, 2023

James Siebens, a fellow for defense strategy and planning at The Stimson Center, a nonpartisan think tank that studies global peace-related issues, agreed the video doesn't show the Iron Beam, though he noted that conflicts like the Israel-Hamas war are often treated as "testing grounds" for new weapons systems.

There is less consensus on what the footage actually shows.

Lerner said the video appears to be manipulated. Daniel Gonzalez, a senior scientist at the RAND Corporation, pointed out a visible exhaust plume that follows the light shining on the airborne objects, which he said suggests some sort of kinetic object was fired.

"Bottom line: I don't think the video provides any proof of the use of a laser weapon," Gonzalez said in an email to USA TODAY.

Amy Nelson, a foreign policy fellow at the Brookings Institute, also expressed skepticism about the claim in an email to USA TODAY.

The power source and storage is a real limiter for any kind of aerial or space deployment. It takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of energy for something like that to work.

Total gamechanger however. No need to lead with lasers. It's basically 100% hit probability.

Eta: I don't understand why it has a visible beam. It would have to be smoky/cloudy for that to happen, which I imagine would drastically reduce or totally negate its effectiveness.
