Two things are true:

1. No national GOPer can run on being pro-life and win.

&

2. When you really think about it, that kinda means we’re not a people worth saving.

Right. Nationally the system is busted. Our votes are worthless.

Its all about our communities, not the nation anymore.

I agree with that entirely. It should concern all registered Republicans that an issue that was a staple of the party platform up until very, very recently is now an issue that you can't discuss and hope to win national elections on. What other core principles are going to go that way? The Democrats have infiltrated all major institutions and have convinced generations of children (and parents) that the leftist playbook is morally right, and the GOP is more focused on winning elections in order to slow the march of the left instead of fighting for what is right.

A nation that does not fight for those most vulnerable--it's own children--is not a nation that has a good future ahead.

Abortion is a loser issue for the GOP.

Of course, it seems many posters believe that abortions are regularly performed late in the pregnancy. This simply is not the case. Abortions after the 2nd trimester are very rare. And then it is typically a matter of life and death for the mother( and/or little chance of a healthy being born).

Not necessarily on local levels, where it should be regulated.

Republicans are falling into the same trap Democrats did, wanting the Federal Govt to force morality.

Ohio and Kansas didn’t work out well for severe restrictions on abortion. Neither did Wisconsin, as I recall.

No they aren't.

The reasons for abortions change little even later in pregnancy. 80-90 percent convenience based.

You don't have to be so structurally misinformed, but if you weren't you might be forced to change your world views. Can't have that, right?

Exactly, you can pretty much tie the downfall of this country to them being allowed to vote...

And yet weak men have allowed women to completely control the culture. Instead of standing up for what’s right, they cower to the demons.

Now we have a generation or two of women who have been ideologically corrupted into believing a moral evil is a good thing.

Can’t blame women for that.

Trump made a very good effort yesterday to set Republicans straight that abortion is now a state issue, as it should be. Plus, Lindsey was just trying to sabotage Trump by contradicting him. Hopefully, it will be the end of Lindsey's career.

It comes down to this, on a national level.

We can accept current political realities, and fight to get some of what we want

Or we can ignore political realities and get none of wfat we want.

Disagree. The right has given up ten football fields worth of ground over the past ten years.

Half of the right doesn’t stand for anything at this point.

At some point you have to dig your heels in or the entire thing goes off the cliff/becomes unrecognizable. I would argue we are already probably past that point.

Apply that to the left over the last 30-40 years and tell me how much they "accepted political realities" and then explain to me how they have come to completely dominate world political ideology.

You know why the republicans lose? Tell me something they represent and actually show me how they have taken action on it. Outside of war and pork, you'll have a hard time doing so, I'd imagine.

Because in a democracy, elections are won based on the popularity of the various policies in the electorate. The right hasn't "given up" anything. They are trying to preserve policies that are no longer popular with voters (this preservation is the nature of conservatism, conserving the past).

If you do this with an unpopular policy, you're committing suicide in a democracy.

Hence, martyrdom syndrome. There is a large population on the American right who want to lose b/c it makes them feel like martyrs.
