You forgot finding ways to embezzle federal dollars and giving pay raises and handouts to his supporters and flunkies.

I knew JBE would be terrible, I just didn't think he would be this terrible
It's like he wakes up every morning and asks himself what can he do today to frick over every productive member of the state

i really think they're just creating insane proposals just to get a reaction out of this board and comments on the hayride

Don't blame Vitter.
Blame the moral bible thumping conservatives that ignored the health of their wallet and JBE's liberal as hell tax and spend voting record in favor of getting their pound of flesh over their moral outrage over Vitter's personal life despite the fact we don't elect politicians to be our preacher.
Oh I'm with you, I'm just lamenting fate. Bunch of self righteous morons turning their nose up at Vitter, makes me want to puke.

Just to see how far they can push things.

Weren't you one of the republicans for JBE having hissy fits about Vitter?
I didn't have a hissy fit about anything. I had my reasons for opposing Vitter, and none of them had anything to do with his sordid past.
I ended up not voting for either candidate for governor.

Hows that working out for so called conservatives like you?
It's been a shitty outcome so far fiscally.

I've got a plan he'll love.
Sleep tax: A flat tax on each hour you sleep at night. Citizens aren't being productive when they sleep. They need to pay a premium for non productive hours.
Wake tax: A tax for every time you get up each morning. By being alive, the state spends resources on you. It's important that we give back for all the services the state provides us.
Breakfast tax: Imagine if we lived in Zimbabwe and didnt have breakfast. We should be taxed on the foods we consume in order to ensure the continuation of the free flow of consumables.
State water tax: You already pay municipalities for your water. But those water sources are really state resources. That state should be compensated for our use of them.
Driving tax: You're using state funded roads out there. It's important that you pay your share for each mile in order to use them.
Job creation tax: As hard working Pelican staters, don't you want to see that the state continues to create jobs for us? You should give a small portion of your paycheck to the state so that they can do just that.
Consumable media tax: Things like Internet, cable/satellite/streaming services. If you're on your couch watching the tube or surfing the web, you're not producing value for the state. It's important that you give back for these non productive time.

If you don't want job/economy killers, tax raisers without merit and big government growers in office, don't vote for liberal tax and spend democrats and vote against them every opportunity you can get.

When you get out of Louisiana for a few years you quickly realize how crappy the govt really is there. It's quite amazing.

so what are you doing in this thread?

Whelp, when people refuse to accept political realities, hold their nose, and vote for someone despite that person not being perfect, this is what happens. This is why we can't have nice things.
I am a huge Ben Shapiro fan but this is one of the things that bugs me about him. He was adamant that he wouldn't vote for Trump, even though the alternative was Hillary. He takes the position that a vote for Trump carries with it an implicit approval for all of the mans actions and positions. Personally, I think that's horse crap. At some point you have to acknowledge reality and pick a side, even if that side is imperfect.

I expressed confusion about why anyone would back a proposal by Katrina Jackson.
Am I not allowed to comment on JBE's policy choices because I didn't vote for or against him?

I am not going to hold my nose and support a "family values" politician - Republican or LA Democrat.
When politicians quit giving a shite about abortion and what the Bible might say, they can get my vote.

This is just more evidence that if Louisiana is going to improve and prosper, power needs to be decentralized away from Baton Rouge where local communities can keep their taxes and power.
Fair but local communities need to take care of things they should be responsible for. The state picks up the slack for far too many services.

Great, and in the mean time they can ratchet up the ever tightening tax noose.
frick. Whatever, I'm just #triggered by the sheer stupidity in the OP. I need a coffee break

Yes, but why not do that with corporate taxes and the like? Why not cut out all these exemptions, special tax credits and increase the tax base that way too?
If you read the bill, there are exemptions granted to any company involved in mineral rights and oil exploration.

So, in order to get less intrusion in one area of my life (taxes), I have to support someone who wants to infect me with whatever twisted sense of morality they might have?
Why can't we ever just have a politician who will stay out of my pocket and out of my life? I'd vote for that one.

I honestly don't care if a candidate has run 3 nuns over with his car.
If he or she will quit taking my money and just leave me the frick alone they have my vote.

Sure you can comment on them but you don't have the credibility and logical standing of someone who actually voted against him because he knew the truth about him.
