So the belief structure of ~1.6 billion of the world's population shouldn't be studied?

Ok.

Not if it's an apologist course, which it is.

All of them at this point if they can't support themselves privately

Have the private companies train employees themselves. Take a degree like engineering. It doesn't take 4 years to learn how to sit in a room and post on td and scribble on autocad

Colleges should teach courses on every topic under the Sun. They are supposed to be places of learning and where people go to have their thinking challenged. We shouldn't censor what they can, and cannot, teach.

I think at some universities, these are full fledged academic programs and not just courses.

We shouldn't study a fundamental part of our political and legal system? What?

Not if the curriculum is centered around "feelings", which it is.

I've been saying this for awhile. I predict we'll see an educational revolution in the next 50 years or so.

Take a university accounting program for instance. You don’t have to go to college for four years to learn how to be an accountant. I guarantee you that there are accounting firms who have the resources and wherewithal to develop their own educational/training curricula, and I bet they could do it a lot faster than a traditional four-year degree.

They just have to make it worthwhile for both the trainee and the firm.

Something like: “We’ll train you and certify you to be an accountant in one year, and hire you afterwards, as long as you commit to working for us for four years.”

So you disagree with some forms of these courses but agree that they should exist in some form?

I'm pretty sure social studies covered all of this in middle school. But if a human rights course is centered around legal codes, I don't don't have a problem with that.

My government agency should take up the challenge.

I have a four-year degree. Everything I learned and know about what I do, came from nearly 30 years in the work force. I never took a class in accounting dealing with Federal Acquisition Regulations or Cost Accounting Standards.

Or this one from USCe:

Lady Gaga and the Sociology of the Fame
LINK

It may be interesting (she is very talented and knows how to keep herself in the public image), but a college credit course?

If you are saying get rid of these majors, yes.

If you are saying get rid of these classes, no.
